Federation Day's not 'til autumn, but First Contact Day, when we celebrate the first meeting of humans and Vulcans, is on 2263.95 at home. April 5th, ( he clarifies. ) We celebrate the flight of the Phoenix, Earth's first warp-capable ship, and the subsequent first contact between Humans and Vulcans. Good excuse to eat terrible food, listen to Vulcan music and ancient Earth records, and put our kids through re-enactments of Solkar and Zefram Cochrane meeting.
Vulcans have their own spring renewal festival, ( now he's getting into it, thoughtful, ) Some of our introverts might enjoy that. Meditation, quiet reflection, restoring one's inner emotional balance, all that. Sipping plomeek tea and contemplating IDIC, ( he pronounces it 'ih-dihk')
We lack any moons here, but I think we could swing a good Lohlunat this summer, if we can find somethin' to occupy our youngsters for the evening.
