'Sup, ship mates. You've gotten the low-down from Newt already, Dusty's managing food and Grandpa Barnes is still passin' the buck as always . . . I figured I drop in my stuff too. A while back, I had a few people ask about self-defense classes and training.

And I figured that's useful 'cuz the last mission definitely went hairy and people got hurt. I'm happy to offer up some tranin', sparring or hell, even weapon maintenance or setting you up with some basic gear.

I got the qualifications. Did a stint in MIT, but also did a couple of active war tours 'round Afghanistan and Iraq, was a Navy Seal. Trained in a couple of martial arts disciplines. Ain't too shabby with swords and shields along with guns.

You're welcome to hit me up and we can start training. Skill's the best asset you got and you never know, even with superpowers or magic and whatever, to have an extra edge.

It was your first mission, that sort of messes happen. You should have seen how the first Guardians' fight went, we all almost died like, seven times.

We just need to be more careful during the next orb retrieval mission. [ If such thing is possible. ] Who would you say is the person with more common sense around this place?

[scarcastically]

[ oh, that's a tough one. technically, sam is a good candidate but erik's not sure his pride would allow that. though he's caved for worse things. pride doesn't complete objectives and it doesn't get the work done.

sighs ]

Probably Wilson.

[ Peter thinks it's important to ask, so he knows how to look for in case of an emergency. He's somewhat surprised that Erik mentions one of the few people he knew before coming to the station. ]

Wilson, as in Sam Wilson? If yes, then we happen to be from the same world. We got killed by the same asshole too, and then came back.

[ hmm. erik pitches his voice curious and innocently. ]

What happened?

[ Peter's the one who mentioned Thanos in the first place, so he doesn't mind sharing what happened. Certain details, though, he will keep to himself. ]

A purple homicidal megalomaniac alien with no concept of economics wanted to rule the Galaxy because he refused to accept he was wrong something. Thanos used the Infinity Stones, a group of immensely powerful magic jewels, to wipe out half the life in the universe.

[scarcastically]

[ right, magic and aliens. also unsurprising that no one attempts a conversation either. ]

But I'm guessin' it was undone.

[ Magic and aliens had been part of Peter's life since forever, so this is pretty normal for him. ]

Yeah...five years later, and after big sacrifices from many people. Frankly, it all happened two days ago for me. [ Which means Peter's mental state and the coherency of his statements might not be great. ]

[ erik files it away with sam's timeline events. romanoff mentioned something about that. ]

Yeah, like who?

[ At the question,Peter grimaces, runs a hand through his hair and down his face before he can answer. ]

Everyone, in a way. But It doesn't matter here, that won't help us with the next mission.

[ personal, then. close to peter. erik can head it off for now, waving his hand flippantly. ]

Yeah, 'course. Just good to know how other worlds are gettin' on.

[ Pretty personal, yes, so not talking about it further is appreciated. ]

There was still so much to fix, and now we're stuck here. It's frustrating.

What was your world like?

[scarcastically]

Boring. Lots of inequality and prejudice.

Ugh, sorry man. That's sucks. It also seems to be a universal problem across universes.

It's not so bad here at the station, I hope?

[scarcastically]

Yeah, I'm doing fine here. Like I said, it's all communal. Gotta work together.

Even if we need to do that, assholes can be found everywhere. But good to know it's been better at the station.

Did you get to see the orb in the last mission? What's it like? The weight and size, I mean. Does it shine or anything?

[scarcastically]

[ erik blinks. ]

I only saw it briefly. It just looks like an orb, close to like a giant pearl I guess. Kinda glowy. Never touched it myself.

[spacedisaster]

[ Ey, he asks just in case it's important information that might cause trouble during the mission. ]

Shouldn't be too hard to conceal if necessary then.

[scarcastically]

I think the station will collect us when we have it. 'Least that's how it worked last time.

[spacedisaster]

Oh, cool. How does that happen exactly? We're beamed away from where we are once the orb is retrieved, no matter what we are doing? Or do we need to meet at a specific location?

[ Sorry Erik, he's got all the questions for you. ]

[scarcastically]

It's a quick "beam me up scotty" situation. We didn't really hang around afterwards.

Probably for the better. People aren't usually happy when you steal things from them.

But I don't know man, this whole orb - regret-solving thing...who knows if we're not doing more harm than good. It's all very suspicious.

[scarcastically]

[ well yes obviously. . . erik didn't mind, his morals were loose when it came to the endgame but it's always weird to hear people say that. ]

Then why sign up?

[ Peter used to have a strange relationship with morals before he became a Guardian. It'll be like that sometimes. ]

You could say that the offer caught me at a bad moment. And I thought I was simply dreaming.

Now, well...I'm trying to figure what we really got ourselves into.

[scarcastically]

[ it's possible. but erik doubts that. ]

Does it matter? We'll only know until we see it through. Keep that skepticism up and wait for the right moment.

[ One can always be better, Erik. Peter's friends were also assassins and criminals and they found a new purpose in life. It's all about will and opportunity. ]

I just don't want to realize one day that we've been hurting people or causing some sort of intergalactic conflict by stealing the orbs. Once we collect them all and whatever broke is then fixed, who knows what it would happen. It could be a weapon that kill us all for all we knew.

I've been deceived before by people who claimed to have only the best interests in mind, I'm not inclined to make the same mistake again. I had enough of that with my father.

So, yeah, let's to err on the side of caution for now...
