[There sure have been a lot of informational hits to the earpieces lately. And she's really sorry to add another one to the mix. But this is something she feels the need to get the deets out to everyone quickly. You never know when the next mission will be announced, after all.]
Right so, my name's Clara Oswald. Think I've met most of you by now, though there seems to be some of us that are new wandering about.
[And just so everyone is aware, she's smiling and waving like you all can see her but this is audio so you can't. Anyone that's near her in the sunlight room is free to see this happening in real time.]
I've been here long enough to agree with the assertion we need a sense of organization moving forward. So Rosinante and I have come together to start working on gathering a list of our current inventory. The plan is to make checklists and supply kits to take with us on our missions. We'll have to use whatever we currently have on the station, obviously, but thought that maybe we could come up with an organized list of requests for Viveca.
[She's a teacher back home. Checklists are her life. Being organized is also a+, so she sounds incredibly excited by the prospect of being the one to actually get to do some organization.]
Soooo, [Yeah, that's stretched out and almost comes out in a whimsical, playful lilt.]
If anyone has any supplies they'd like to list off, request suggestions, or would like to be one of the first to take a supply kit whenever our next mission pops up...
[She trails off there. She figures everyone here will know what to do if they're interested. If you're watching in the sunlight room, she fingerguns at thin air. It's hard being an expressive person that uses their hands to talk in wild gestures when attempting to deliver a simple audio message.]

And what exactly would be your idea of a standard supply kit? Just curious.
no subject
On our last mission, we could've done with things of our own instead of relying on the locals. Certain things were hard to come by after a certain point. Things like medical supplies, extra clothing... tools for the mechanically inclined? Anything that might be a simple, basic need. It'd be particularly helpful for new arrivals who aren't sure what to bring with them.
Why? What would you put in a standard supply kit?
no subject
and by what she's detailing, she seems to have an idea of what she's talking about. ]
Weapons, for starters. Medical supplies, sure, but just as important is gonna be a way to defend yourself before you can even get hurt. These days, there's no planet you can get to without expecting some kind of fight.
audio --> video
[There's a pause, and she switches things over to video.]
You haven't happened to make your way to the armory yet, have you? Cos there's plenty of weapons here, maybe even something that's specific to your area of expertise?
[The way it's worded combined with the smile on her face make it obvious she's fishing for information. The more she can learn about the others here, the better suited she'll be to figure out who the best allies are. And if he's so freely talking about going to multiple planets, he's definitely someone she wants to get to know better.]

This is a good idea, not everyone has the same abilities so making a standard kit might help avoid problems. I suggest adding a change of clothes, some basic medical supplies like disinfectant and bandage, scissors and a small knife, a notebook or tablet and something to write, and even packed food or snacks. Gotta keep the correct level of blood sugar and all that.
Since we are moving to an actual city for the next mission, we could also make a list of supplies we might need at the station, and see if we can acquire them there. That way we don't have to depend so much on the supply drops from Viveca. You can't ever have too many medical supplies, surgical tools, and toilet paper, you know? People who've been here for some time, like you, probably have a better idea of what we might need with more urgency.
[ He has no problem deferring to Clara's expertise, is what he's saying. He also doesn't trust the generosity of Viveca or whoever brought them into the station, and doesn't like to depend on them for survival. ]

Never thought about running out of toilet paper here.
[What happens when you run out of toilet paper in space???
Ew.]
I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say I trust Viveca. Least not yet. But I think if we can get her a list we can see how willing she is to cooperate. And if she winds up being a grumpy old cow, then we know it's best to gather what we can on missions in the future.
no subject
So far.]I've been living in spaceships since I was 8 years old. Trust, there's no such thing as too much toilet paper. And while we're at it, duct tape as well.
[ The answer is: lots of problems happen. ]
I've got no issue with A.I.s, I've met others before, but I can't say I appreciate being dragged here out of the blue, even if Viveca says I agree to it. Frankly I thought it was all a weird dream, I'm not fully convinced it isn't. But if you say she's at least reliable like that, we can give it a try.
Have you been living here for long?
no subject
About three months now, I think. Time's started to start blurring together, if I'm being honest.
[There's a brief pause, only a fraction of a beat.]
So, did your parents just pack you up and head out to space somehow when you were eight?

I wish I had something of my own to add to your inventory, but all I've got are the clothes on my back, my amp, and my omni-tool. Not really things I can lend out to anyone.

I agree that we shouldn't be handing out weapons with a generic supply kit, except maybe a knife. But anything more advanced should be left to people who are trained. [He thinks for a moment] We should pack small foods like protein bars, and foods that won't spoil easily and will keep you hydrated. Celery, carrots, cucumber slices. You don't want anything that's going to add a lot of weight. Maybe a small can of nuts or beans?
no subject
[So including food is a good idea, she'll jot down his suggestions.]
You're the second person to recommend a knife, so I think we ought to look into including one in every kit. It's not like we have to shove a machete in the kit and hand it off to one of the children that're here. There's practical options too, I wager.

oh, and if you want, I can give you the list of what food supplies we have, since people have been helping me with rationing and stuff, we've been keeping pretty good track

We'd be happy to work with you on how to prep food for missions, especially since you've been accounting for unique diets.

and of course. if we have anything really especially unusual, I haven't been told. mostly what I know about is a couple people who need extra food and at least one who doesn't need much at all compared to most people. no specific ingredients or anything, at least to my knowledge. some people are kind of private about that sort of thing, so I might just not know

[He has one rule. One. Rule.]

While they may not be useful for everyone, I have talisman paper and brushes that I am planning to bring to future missions. While not classic weapons like knives or guns -- [an awkward pause but he's sure he's talking about the thing he's thinking of and hey, he's learned about modern things!] it's unlikely that anyone who stumbles upon the pack accidentally would think much of paper and inks.
The talismans can be used for things such as keeping doors shut, preventing sound from leaving a room, or be sent to others as a form of messenger in the case our network is down. More ink as a request for Viveca would be helpful.
[a pause then, careful and concerned as he hasn't considered what he's about to say before even though this whole earpiece situation is very strange to him.] On second thought, has anyone considered what we would do on a mission if unable to communicate remotely? It would be good to create a plan once we have a new mission file of how we'd address this or where to go if we need to regroup. [for someone who is also a teacher, someone is getting off track on the assignment and not getting a passing grade!]
no subject
[Which is worrisome really, but...well, there's no time like the present to hop on that train of thought.]
Is there a steep learning curve involved with picking up on your talismans? I'd like to learn, if you don't mind teaching. Assuming we can get enough ink, that is.
omg i am so sorry i didn't get a notif!
Once we get the mission file, there's opportunity for that. [or next time...]
It is a matter of activating them with one's qi. I have heard some members of the ship learning magical abilities. If you were able to pick that up, this should not be a problem.
action; lmk if this is ok lol
I gotta ask, [ he says once she's finished and the finger fun shows over, stretching his legs and pushing himself (with some effort, things still ache) to his feet, ]
Were you in the military, or were you a teacher? Back home, I mean.
it's perfection
Is this a stalker??
Or is she just that easy to read?]
Schoolteacher, yeah. Is it really that obvious?
no subject
A little. Just the way you were kinda taking control. Figured you were used to herding children in one way or another. [ cadets, kids... same thing, really. ]
no subject
[She laughs at herself, so she's good humored about the whole thing.]
It's not that I try to talk to people here like I would the children, but...
[Old habits die hard. She looks a little sheepish about that.]
