[ a few days after rita holds the auditions for a midsummer night's dream, a cast sheet is posted up on the walls of several of the main rooms throughout the station for all to see: ]


[ in addition to the cast list, are instructions stating the following: ]

If you choose to accept your role in our production, please see Rita Farr to receive a copy of the play so you may start practicing your lines. We will hold our first readthrough in the next few days and rehearsal schedules will be provided to you.

If we happen to take on a mission before performance time, you are still expected to work on your lines when possible, and if conditions allow, rehearsals may still be conducted during the mission as long as it doesn't interfere with our tasks.

The offer for backstage participation remains open! Join us anytime to assist in building and painting the set or making props and costumes.


( OOC NOTES: the cast list has been decided as per rng! if you don't wish your character to have the role assigned to them and would like to instead drop out, please let me know. in terms of ic participation, an optional rehearsal mingle will be posted after october's mission. otherwise, feel free to use the casting as any extra drive for your character for threading amongst each other and building cr (do some private rehearsals one-on-one if you like!). there will be an opening night log sometime in december, date tba depending on the game calendar.

[A couple hours after the cast list goes up, Dante's in the music room again, this time on top of a stand with a script in hand. Egeus might not have much in the way of lines, but that's not gonna stop Dante from giving it his best shot!]

Full of vexation come I, [he proclaims, with a huge, sweeping gesture.] with complaint against my child, my daughter, Hermia!

[The amount of venom he injects into the words is hilariously over-the-top, as is the angry pointing he does toward nothing. It makes his Egeus come off as an absolute buffoon, a figure to be laughed at, his stage presence given the edge of a desperation borne of a keen awareness and dislike of events spinning out of his control.]

Stand forth, Demetrius! My noble lord, [and there's a simpering quality to his voice now,] this man hath my consent to marry her. [Back to venomous and furious:] Stand forth, Lysander—and, my gracious duke, this man [more angry jabbing at nothingness as his voice raises in volume] hath bewitch'd the bosom of my child! Thou hast by moonlight at her window—wait, no, hang on.

[And he stops the monologue there to check the lines, then ruefully shakes his head.]

Been a while since I read this play. I really gotta refresh myself on this guy. [Then he glances up, noticing somebody else in the room with him, then waves.] You here to run some lines too?
