[CW: vague drug mention]
[It’s late into the evening when Daisy’s voice carries over the network.]
What if this asteroid isn’t an asteroid, but another orb? I know it sounds crazy, but crazier things have happened.
[Is she coming down from a high? Maybe. But she’s had weirder theories stone cold sober.]

... Right?

I hope I’m wrong about this, but it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve dealt with two at once.

But if it's not another orb, what is it?

( she really doesn't understand how most of this works yet. )

[Could she be causing unnecessary anxiety by even speaking this theory out loud? Yes. And she feels guilty once she realizes there’s a lot of new people here, who’ve never been on a mission before.]
But we don’t actually know if that’s the case yet.

( never met a telescope, but would! in theory understand a distance viewer. just doesn't even come to mind. )
What would that change if it were?

[ Not easy exactly, but convenient. Because then they could maybe capture the orb and save the planet at the same time? Seems almost too tidy, but would have to chalk one up to the orbs for creating chaos. ]

Not the word I’d use.
no subject
Didn't say you would.
Said it could be convenient if that was the case, but unfortunately life is rarely convenient.

... Who also happens to be a genius.
[He will ABSOLUTELY take that freebee, thank you.
Especially when he feels like garbage for potentially watching an entire civilization get destroyed. You do what you can, huh? But after a few days, she'll get a response back from him that is just as subdued as the rest of them have been trying to handle all of this:]
Hey, Daisy, I've got this where everyone else can hear it — but... no dice on the asteroid being anything but an asteroid. It's composed of some basic materials, some a little more alien to me than others, but ultimately... I can't see anything that establishes it as more than a run of the mill meteor.
Um! Also, the planet itself, it's about the size of Japan, if you wrapped it up into a ball Katamari-style. Nothing else to report on in the sky; it's all pretty basic stratosphere.
... That's about all I got.
Sorry I couldn't give anyone any helpful revelations.
