video — un: ben | day 3, late-afternoon
( It's the later part of the afternoon on Day Three when Kenobi and McCoy appear on the network, having retreated to one of the guest huts together. McCoy wastes no time in speaking first, all quiet, stubborn intensity: )
Ben and I have just spoken with Chief Yerek and his majordomo, so you can all hold onto your dour horses a while longer.
( He lifts his gaze to his compatriot, who continues the thread evenly and quickly. )
He was quite grateful that we informed him, and he’s asked us to provide him with any updates in regards to a more formal plan. But until we know exactly how we’re going to help the Hivawei, the people at large mustn’t know.
( Something the Chieftain had said resonates with Ben in particular — Fear and panic for transparency’s sake helps no one but the consciences of those who know. He cannot help but agree.
McCoy nods. )
Chief Yerek should be communing with the leaders from the other settlements as we speak, but we’ll see how things shake out. The chief’s majordomo Bleicen seemed … pretty shocked when we broke the news.
( Kenobi exhales. )
Yes. And knowing these people have families of their own and a very strong willingness to keep trying … well, if there’s a way to help offer that option to them, perhaps it’s one worth trying on our part.
[ ooc: threadjacking and talking amongst yourselves is completely and entirely encouraged! ben and bones will be around when they're around to respond, but other than that, have at! ]

…Okay, that makes him laugh. And because he’s pretty sure Chishiya will get that, he’s not gonna bother caveating. ]

I’m already there.
[Almost every time he’s been on the network being nonchalant about this whole business he’s been physically at the marketplace mending children's toys in exchange for snacks.]

Buddhism is spiritual and religious philosophy in my world. Adherents believe in the cycle of life, death and rebirth.

But it would be more accurate to say I don’t know, and I’m not especially worried about it.

However I see your response below
I don't believe some wanting to keep living is exclusive of believing in a cycle of life, death, and rebirth

[He was just trolling Jake from afar.]
Don’t worry too much, if you’re offended. Seems like I’m about to get my ass kicked.
[There's no way to read tone through text, but if there was the tone here would be one of total nonchalance. He doesn’t actually believe for a moment Jake is going to try to kick his ass.]

( okay so, now that that's out of his system: )
Fate slew Him, but He did not drop —
She felled — He did not fall —
Impaled Him on Her fiercest stakes —
He neutralized them all —
She stung Him — sapped His firm Advance —
But when Her Worst was done
And He — unmoved regarded Her —
Acknowledged Him a Man.

Though we've offered them another option, we must also be realistic with what we're capable of.
[ It's a bit of a tricky balance, hope. ]

( she's very... easy with the ask for not telling the average person in the villages. her whole desire, the one to tell the leaders, has been met in part here, and she's heard whisper of others aiming to do similarly with the rest. even if it's yerek wanting to reach out first. and the sage around. and. or. who knows? it's an echo in her head regardless, and she's uh.
anyway sometimes you take an older professor and live in the woods for days anyway it's fine. )

[ In the end, could he really just leave these people to their doomed fate and very real possibility of extinction?
(Absolutely not.) ]
We've trusted the Chieftain to his task but if they need any further assistance, we can certainly offer it to them. Thank you.

( she sighs out, and offers: )
