[Even before the feed flickers into life, anyone literally anywhere in the sunlight room is probably aware that there is something going on thanks to one very shrill scream immediately followed by several minutes of panicked shouting. When the feed does flicker on, the view is oddlyβ¦tall? It's at height with the tops of the trees in the sunlight room which is because Wei Wuxian is making this post from the top of one of those trees.
The reason why becomes immediately obvious when he pans down to the familiar form of Jake barking up at him from the base of the tree. Jake's expression is partially obscured through the foliage, though a close study will find more fear in Jake's face than threat. Whatever he thinks he's looking at, it isn't Wei Wuxian.
Finally, the view shifts to Wei Wuxian who is wide eyed and panicked, his face completely bloodless as he holds onto the tree with one arm and gestures at Jake below with the other.]
Why? [He squeaks out in a desperate whisper, eyes darting back to Jake again before he lets out a soft whimper and returns his attention to the feed.]
Why is there a dog?
----
[ Jake's post comes through almost simultaneously, text somehow communicating volume as much as his urgency. ]
I FOUND THE GHOST. I REPEAT, I FOUND THE GHOST. GOT IT UP A TREE IN THE SUNLIGHT ROOM. PLEASE ADVISE ON NEXT STEPS AND/OR EXORCISM.

[He would probably be laughing if he were in a better mood himself, or if he could see this in person. It's fucking hilarious in his opinion.]

You are not worthy to so much as kiss this man's feet in obeisance.
Do better or stay silent.
π
So shut the fuck up and mind your own goddamn business. He deserves what he gets.
π
Wei Wuxian is a better man than I am by no small margin. However, if you treated him remotely as you are treating me now, he would have been entirely justified in leaving you to a considerably worse fate than surviving to whine about it. Perhaps you should examine why that may be before you behave thusly.
π
I've had one conversation with the guy before and it was hardly that bad. [Not great, but damn. Not worth the trouble (or trigger) he received in return. But then, this was Felix's opinion, and he did not suffer a fool if he didn't have to.] Certainly not reason enough to act as drastically as you just described. I feel like the kettle is calling the pot black over here. You're being very petty right now. Making it sound grandiose doesn't make it any less vitriolic, you know, buddy.
But hey, have fun on that high horse of yours. I hope you fall and break you neck one day when you realize it's not all that great a view.
π
that estimation of felix's character drops another few impossible notches, and the goodwill he may have otherwise accrued by his actions on cirawei evaporates like water in a desert.
and speaking of dry environments, his tone is similarly reflective as he replies — οΌ
Your mistake is assuming I did not intend to sound vitriolic. οΌ hard-edged amusement creeps in like ivy through the blunt brick of his words as he adds: οΌ 'Grandiosity' aside.
οΌ the 'how actions inform consequence' pipeline is in another castle. οΌ
Your hope is noted. Should I die such a death, you have my permission to gloat atop my corpse.

I would hazard a guess that nothing is ever your fault at all.

What was that?
π
[Why can't people just mind their own business?]
π
Which brings me to you, Felix.
π
[Why do you have to remind him of a fucking Freelancer?]
π
[Still calm and sweet, his voice dripping with it.]
π
[Purposefully obtuse for the sarcasm factor. Seriously, what does this guy want him to do. He started this conversation. There wasn't one with Wei Wuxian because he was too busy being a pussy. What does this asshole want from him? A physical confrontation? Bring it.]
π
But not here.
π
If you like that asshole you can join him for all I care, too.
π
π
π
But you are claiming that he saw you quivering in fear, terrified beyond belief. And then laughed. Or is this where your fucking comes in?
π
[Snapped, automatic, angry and defensive.]
What he did was take his sweet time when I was caught in a death trap. He did it on purpose, and he was amused by it.
π
He saved your life, and this is how you repay that debt. In public no less, to be seen by all the people whose help you might need in the future.
As I said, you have no patience. Close the network, Felix, and take a nice, little stroll around the station. Ponder the wonders of life and how easily it could have ended, was it not for this man.
π
I don't need anyone!
Because I'm faster than you, I'm stronger than you, and I can kill better than anyone on this damn station. And I have survived far worse than some scrap with a bunch of dumbass civvies!
