[Even before the feed flickers into life, anyone literally anywhere in the sunlight room is probably aware that there is something going on thanks to one very shrill scream immediately followed by several minutes of panicked shouting. When the feed does flicker on, the view is oddly…tall? It's at height with the tops of the trees in the sunlight room which is because Wei Wuxian is making this post from the top of one of those trees.

The reason why becomes immediately obvious when he pans down to the familiar form of Jake barking up at him from the base of the tree. Jake's expression is partially obscured through the foliage, though a close study will find more fear in Jake's face than threat. Whatever he thinks he's looking at, it isn't Wei Wuxian.

Finally, the view shifts to Wei Wuxian who is wide eyed and panicked, his face completely bloodless as he holds onto the tree with one arm and gestures at Jake below with the other.]

Why? [He squeaks out in a desperate whisper, eyes darting back to Jake again before he lets out a soft whimper and returns his attention to the feed.]

Why is there a dog?

[ Jake's post comes through almost simultaneously, text somehow communicating volume as much as his urgency. ]

I FOUND THE GHOST. I REPEAT, I FOUND THE GHOST. GOT IT UP A TREE IN THE SUNLIGHT ROOM. PLEASE ADVISE ON NEXT STEPS AND/OR EXORCISM.

[He's so terrified he can hardly breathe and his arms are shaking with exhaustion from how long he's been clinging to this tree. He could almost laugh at the question, but in the end all he can manage is the smallest, quietest] No.

[It's a sweet attempt, but it falls on deaf ears. He doesn't understand. He doesn't understand how he can't function when he's around dogs. Can't reach for any of the tools he has, can't do anything. Luckily for Zhao, Joric arrives then to try and talk Wei Wuxian down and he promptly stops responding.]

[That's not lucky, that's freaking him out!! He quickly saves the caramel from a sad, wasted fate to the great kitchen above and returns to the network to troll for more information on the outcome of this whole ordeal.

He chews absently on some popcorn for a minute while he does so. What! It can't go to waste!

Then, a few minutes later as he hopes Wei Wuxian has had some time to calm down and...maybe someone really did help him out?? If not...well, this was a place of regrets so what was one more, right.]

Wei Wuxian? Wei Wuxian... please answer me. I'm sorry. Please tell me you've made it out of that tree... Do you need some help?

[By the gods he will climb that tree and carry you down if he needs to. He feels like such an ass for not figuring this out sooner. How does Kasuga do this?? That guy always seemed to know the right approach, whether it was with a punch or with a soft spoken word.]

[Zhao breathes a sigh of relief... but he's still concerned, almost especially so since the reply was not spoken. Maybe Wei Wuxian just didn't have it in himself to speak steadily right now. That seemed fair.]

Okay. Just let me know if you need anything, all right buddy? [a beat] Or...or if you'd like some company later, ne?
