Hey good news everyone, Bracken didn’t kill us.

Although I'm fairly certain it would have been Fyna that would've done most of the killing... she sounded really disappointed when she didn't get to take us out.

Okay, yeah good point. I think she was mad I didn't flirt with her.

I said I was sorry. Next time the bartender shows interest I'll make certain to leave you to it.

[There was a pause as if one of them might get on with the post's actual intention and then suddenly Yelena breaks the silence with a blunt counter injection:]

You did not. You have not said sorry once this whole time.

What? Oh, god, really? I am sooooooo forgetful about those sorts of things. Remind me later. I meant it. Really, it was implied.

Right. I will believe it when I hear it. Well, I just- Whatever. Anyway... We found Zandr and the orb. He has it.

Right. Business. Bracken and Fyna--the two mercenaries monopolizing the ghost matter weapons on the black market--introduced us to Zandr after we convinced them we're here to help. He-

He's contracted it so ghost matter doesn't kill people while he does science, but he'll give it to us when he is done. So we need to help him figure out his science things.

[Another pause stretches on for a little too long before Felix makes a low grunt of pain as Yelena prods him (literally) into saying the next segment.]

Just making sure you were finished... He said anyone who knows their way around particle alteration would be useful to figuring out the solution to the ghost matter problem. He wants to get completely rid of it. So, time to get your thinking caps on, dear doctors and gentle scientists, you've got useful shit to do.

He told us which planet his lab is on but he has things to set up before we go to him. He will tell us when and how to get to him...

...so we're not caught being stupid about it and can get to him safely.

Don't do that. Do what? We are not finishing each other's sentences. It’s creepy. Don't do that. Fine, whatever. Did we cover everything? Yes. Or they will ask questions and we will answer.

Do you all have any questions? We are helping them now, like Dr. Wizard Strange said.
[And that was final as far as she was concerned.]

[[ooc: hey, here we go! all this comes from their search request here. this post is up for a free-for-all discussion of information in the comments. replies may be from either Yelena or Felix or both.]]

Technically, I think Strange said they weren't trying to make it lethal in the first place. That was just the orb's side effect. The monkey's paw.

Zandr made a deal with the orb to specifically keep those affected by the ghost matter from dying. They're still getting sick.

What other side effects? The way it stops powers? It always did that, we were told that before we got here.

[He's not sure whether to be confused by all of Finn's questions, or annoyed that the guy wasn't keeping up. Maybe a bit of both. Probably a bit of both.]

No, no, just the getting sick part. But it sounds like using our abilities at all is still best kept off the table.

Still, this is what happened in Gyeongje, too. The Lord was using the orb for wealth and the price was the plague on his citizens. It... sounds pretty similar to all this.

Then again, all of the orbs have a personality and some are pretty sadistic. Maybe this one just doesn't want to remove the ghost matter. Who knows?

[ Sorry, friend. If you're annoyed, Finn totally missed it while wildly speculating. ]

[Actually, (miraculously) he is now a lot less annoyed. This gave a little more perspective.]

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't use powers if I were you until they're really needed. You'd just end up like the people here getting sick.

It does. What did Strange say? They were trying to make more of it at a faster rate... they got it, and the mutation that made it cause the fatal illness. Get more wealth, get monstrous plague to go with it; get more ghost matter, recieve slow death caused by it. Same kinda crap. Always some downside to this deal shit...

[He makes a vaguely amused snorting sound.] The orbs are definitely little pricks. This one might just be lazy. It looked like it was just chilling in dormancy when he showed it to us despite the fact that he has an ongoing deal with it.

[ Same kinda crap is right. Honestly, Finn's less surprised by the similarity and more surprised that they haven't run into more situations like this. People are greedy everywhere... He stops himself before thinking what Palpatine would have done with one of these...

Anyway- ]
Dormant? Sounds strange. [ He wasn't at the stand-off with Cheri on Braccia, but he'd heard the orb was quite active. None of this sits well but maybe Finn's just paranoid. ]

Maybe you're right. A lazy orb would probably be more dangerous, anyway.

Yeah, I thought so, too. But the little asshole didn't look active like the last one that was near its deal maker. Maybe because Zandr wasn't using it for anything actively?

It was barely swirling around. Whatever. It better decide to remain lazy and not cause any more problems. [As if his threats could mean anything to an all-powerful entity.]

[ Well, that's two accounts Finn knows of now about a very active orb. In fact, he can't really think of a mission where the orb seemed dormant, save for Vrefesea. There are three that he missed and one of them just got knocked out. ]

Unless it looks dormant for a reason. It could be concentrating on something else.

[ Or... it was a decoy. But he's not even going to go down that paranoid road. ]

Right, hopefully the deal Zandr has with it. Because if it's something else, or he's lying about his deal, then that also probably sucks.

[Felix thought about that. He's trying not to think about it. It'd be nice and "easy" if this were just the real thing.]
