Hey good news everyone, Bracken didnβt kill us.
Although I'm fairly certain it would have been Fyna that would've done most of the killing... she sounded really disappointed when she didn't get to take us out.
Okay, yeah good point. I think she was mad I didn't flirt with her.
I said I was sorry. Next time the bartender shows interest I'll make certain to leave you to it.
[There was a pause as if one of them might get on with the post's actual intention and then suddenly Yelena breaks the silence with a blunt counter injection:]
You did not. You have not said sorry once this whole time.
What? Oh, god, really? I am sooooooo forgetful about those sorts of things. Remind me later. I meant it. Really, it was implied.
Right. I will believe it when I hear it. Well, I just- Whatever. Anyway... We found Zandr and the orb. He has it.
Right. Business. Bracken and Fyna--the two mercenaries monopolizing the ghost matter weapons on the black market--introduced us to Zandr after we convinced them we're here to help. He-
He's contracted it so ghost matter doesn't kill people while he does science, but he'll give it to us when he is done. So we need to help him figure out his science things.
[Another pause stretches on for a little too long before Felix makes a low grunt of pain as Yelena prods him (literally) into saying the next segment.]
Just making sure you were finished... He said anyone who knows their way around particle alteration would be useful to figuring out the solution to the ghost matter problem. He wants to get completely rid of it. So, time to get your thinking caps on, dear doctors and gentle scientists, you've got useful shit to do.
He told us which planet his lab is on but he has things to set up before we go to him. He will tell us when and how to get to him...
...so we're not caught being stupid about it and can get to him safely.
Don't do that. Do what? We are not finishing each other's sentences. Itβs creepy. Don't do that. Fine, whatever. Did we cover everything? Yes. Or they will ask questions and we will answer.
Do you all have any questions? We are helping them now, like Dr. Wizard Strange said. [And that was final as far as she was concerned.]
[[ooc: hey, here we go! all this comes from their search request here. this post is up for a free-for-all discussion of information in the comments. replies may be from either Yelena or Felix or both.]]

[Or use them. He would know. Spent a decade working with someone he hated. Using their skills to get jobs done. Whatever made it possible to survive.]

It means I don't trust you, dumbass, not after the stunt you pulled on the station. Clearer now?
no subject
Same difference.
[...except he had trusted his old partner, through the hatred and all. And this was where it got him. Never again.
Hard to blame someone for living by his own motto--trust no one--but it didn't mean he couldn't get exasperated by it. Nothing new there though.]
We're still teammates~.

( Leonard eases back into calm indifference, as if he were remarking on the quality of the weather, or some other insignificant part of his day. )
Known that for a while though. Anymore pearls of wisdom you wanna share?
no subject
Nope. We're all set for now. I'll let you know when I got another pearl to drop.

Rest assured, if I need the opinion of a cowardly goon, I'll know who to find.
[locked]
I'd say be careful not to make an enemy of him, but I think you're out of the age range of his usual targets.
π
Well, he better not waste my time by just threatenin' me.
( commit or quit. christ, Bones... )
π
I'm afraid you're going to be disappointed, Doctor. What would be the fun in going after someone his own size?
π
You lit outta medbay with plenty of fire in your belly. He give you any trouble?
( He doesn't approve of violent retribution, but he's not fool enough to believe others of the team don't as well. At the time, he had other priorities than warning a friend off a jackass. )
π
Not the kind you mean. But I do wish I could have convinced Zewu-Jun—Lan Xichen that is—to teach me the Lan silencing spell before he left. [He takes a minute to mourn the thought of Felix's mouth glued shut and then grows more serious. He doesn't know where McCoy stands on violence, but they're friends. If nothing else, it's not hard to wonder if like Jake, he worries Wei Wuxian might compromise his place on the ship.]
I didn't harm him. I would have. I wanted to. But I know where Miss Viveca stands on that and I respect her more than I hate that pathetic excuse of a man.

Nothing I have ever done has ever been cowardly. Call what I've done dastardly or stupid or whatever you want. But being genuinely me is anything but meek or cowardly. I'm not afraid to be what I really am.
cw: dead folks & that gruesomeness
Oh, but you are, son. I've autopsied corpses with more guts left to 'em than you, and they certainly never stank of whatever brand of craven desperation you've wreathed yourself in.
We either face our sins, take our licks and atone for them, or we run and hide like a yellow-bellied cur. Seen as how you made your choice obvious... I have nothin' else to say to you.
Go on. Shoo.

That's one way to live. But that's for those that believe in sins and atonement. That shit's for hiding behind a philosophy that just makes you feel guilt and fear and weak.
[If I feel good about killing you... if being better than you gives me a rush... does that make me a bad person? No. That makes me human.
He lived by a different philosophy.]
I'm not running from anything except death.
[He gestures dismissively even if it can't be seen through the network.]
Believe what you want. It's a free universe after all.
