i think i might've found something important
there's a note here in koga birch's apartment
[just casually admitting to a break-in nbd nbd]
YF —
SS IN BK? LGD 2? DM RMC
UGH
— KB
i think YF refers yasuo fern?
not sure about the rest of the abbreviations, but it seems like YF might have been meant to read this
so that could be a clue to what it means
also i'm trying to see what's on his computer, but it requires a 4-digit passcode
has anyone found any numbers that might be significant to koga or team torpedo in some way?

I mean, from what little I've gleamed, it's possible that our orb is in the form of a shooting star of some kind. There's was a crater in Doubleleaf Glen that's been overgrown with foliage now. and any reports about the field study are under lock and key and you need explicit permission from Team Torpedo in Tarrytown. Which I'm trying to do right now. Dunno how lucky I'll get.
But I did notice a larger influx of Bulbkips in the crater area than other Cubits!
So if the orb possibly ended up in the form of or fused with a Bulbkip that became the kid's Cubit, maybe that's how he ended up totally wiping the floor and getting the championship won? Maybe his wish was to be one of the best trainers ever? Or something along those lines?
All just speculative, I could be full of shit.
Probably just my research putting things in my head.

.... 'RMC' is an abbreviation used in naming stars found in the Magellanic Cloud Nebulae, but that's probably more of an Earth thing. Probably. Unless this is a parallel universe Earth.
............ We do have creatures similar to Cubits as a card game, yanno.
[HE ADMITS IT SO CASUALLY, KNOWING HE HAS MULTIPLE BINDERS OF POKEMON CARDS STASHED BACK HOME.]

[are you gonna show him your mint condition foil charizard newt]
Is there anything you know about that game that might help us work this out? Mr... Maniac?

Ummm.
They're called Pocket Monsters back home, and they're a lot like this.
They only say their names to talk, they're kept in balls, and they battle to try to be champions and all that. They usually start their journeys super young, too. Like, no parent should be letting their 10 year olds travel the world, but I guess they're just Built Different, yanno? The kid doesn't even seem to age in like 30 years of being in a cartoon. What's up with that, anyway?

2. what]
If... it's a serial of some kind... I suppose it serves the writers well for the Pocket Monsters protagonist to always be as young as he was at the beginning of the story with his Pocket Cubits.
[Or something. Also, he said balls? Aren't they in cubes?]
I'm not sure how much that will help, but if there is anything else you recall, please do keep the group apprised of it.

I probably still have Pokemon GO on my phone back on the station if you ever wanna get acquainted... But... now that I think about it, you won't be able to catch any Pokemon electronically around the base. :/

I thought maybe RMC could be relating to stars...?
DM could be so many things, though. Ugh.
Data mining? Drop in magnitude? Dark Matter?
Or something totally regular in day-to-day shorthand. Bleh.

Maybe DM stands for some kind of action...
Can't questionable people just write notes like NORMAL creeps?

A meteorite would probably be a great cover for something of unknown origin like the orb showing up in their world, too
