I mean, from what little I've gleamed, it's possible that our orb is in the form of a shooting star of some kind. There's was a crater in Doubleleaf Glen that's been overgrown with foliage now. and any reports about the field study are under lock and key and you need explicit permission from Team Torpedo in Tarrytown. Which I'm trying to do right now. Dunno how lucky I'll get.

But I did notice a larger influx of Bulbkips in the crater area than other Cubits!

So if the orb possibly ended up in the form of or fused with a Bulbkip that became the kid's Cubit, maybe that's how he ended up totally wiping the floor and getting the championship won? Maybe his wish was to be one of the best trainers ever? Or something along those lines?

All just speculative, I could be full of shit.

Probably just my research putting things in my head.

Recall the surroundings of the orb in Ciraiwei. Even if the rest of your speculations prove to be false, the landing site of this "shooting star" you mention does seem to suggest it's what we're looking for.

.... 'RMC' is an abbreviation used in naming stars found in the Magellanic Cloud Nebulae, but that's probably more of an Earth thing. Probably. Unless this is a parallel universe Earth.

Ummm.
They're called Pocket Monsters back home, and they're a lot like this.
They only say their names to talk, they're kept in balls, and they battle to try to be champions and all that. They usually start their journeys super young, too. Like, no parent should be letting their 10 year olds travel the world, but I guess they're just Built Different, yanno? The kid doesn't even seem to age in like 30 years of being in a cartoon. What's up with that, anyway?

That is fairly compelling, especially the Bulbkip. From the structure, it seems pretty safe to say that BK needs to either be a thing or a place. Since I'm not aware of a town that could be BK, a thing—like a cubit—makes sense.

I'm checking my math on the density of Bulbkip populace in the Glen vs. everywhere else, so maybe it'll give me an idea of how uncommon it is to have so many in one general area. Compared to other Cubit, of course! Maybe it's related.
