[ Sherlock Holmes has no idea how this works and what to do. He's honestly more than a little unnerved by the earpiece sending him voices and images given everything, but there's no getting around it. Seeing and hearing things is his lot in life. ]
Wanted resources current technology, science, stop.
Have 1880s knowledge, stop.
Respond to S.H. stop.
[ There is a pause in the recording as he reconsiders the ending given that this isn't like leaving a message to Watson while he's out... even if there is a chance of a Watson reading this. ]
Sherlock Holmes, stop.
How am I to know this worked? Am I just talking to myself again?
[ If this sounds like a telegram or a newspaper advert until the end, that's because he's "composing" this like the closest technology equivalent he knows... and it ended up as voice because help. He's from 1882, and what is all this?!
And since he's mistakenly doing this voice and not text, that aside comment and sudden deep coughing attack he tries to muffle is picked up and recorded. A Victorian immune system of someone who hasn't been sleeping or eating well for weeks never stood a chance. ]

[And he's about to offer more technological help from the perspective of someone about 10 years ahead, but...]
Are you quite all right?
voice; un: S.H.
No limitation, truly? This is even more reason to remedy my outdated understanding.
Regardless, I am fine, Dr. Mikotoba. The station air is not be agreeing with me.
[ It might have been convincing if he hadn't coughed again. ]
private
[And, boom: the message is now private.
There's a bit of weight to the pause. Yujin carefully measures his words for their emotion, then, at last, speaks.]
If you are anything like my partner, you'll attempt to work through the illness. You don't need to, Holmes. There's plenty of time to catch up once you're well again.
private
Nonsense, I have just arrived here and am already at an disadvantage for whatever these missions will be. I was not brought here to wallow about.
private.. forever...

You are lucky that this is not because that would have cost you more than necessary.
no subject
it's cool im one of those obnoxious rich ppl who doesn't care about cost or anything. i can take it. lay that one-shilling-per-word fee ON me, baby.
voice; un: S.H.
Just a shilling? Have costs not gone up as they are wont to--

Is someone bothering you in person, Mr. S.H?
voice; un: S.H.
[ Thankfully, Mikotoba knew what Sherlock was attempting. He may not be named Watson, but he seems every bit as dependable.
He muffles a cough. ]
voice;
I don't even know everyone's language, but we all understand each other perfectly!
[She's frankly PUMPED by this new little journey she's on.
Oh, but there's something else:]
Um... are you okay? You sound under the weather.

Hey, Mr. Holmes. The, ah... earpiece, it picks up your thoughts. All's you gotta do is just direct 'em some, an' you can communicate just fine.
audio | un: S.H.
[ And no one wants a pure stream of thoughts from Sherlock Holmes. No one. Unless they are ready for a headache and seeing things no mortal was meant to see. ]
no subject
Ah... near as I can tell, your intentions gotta be some manner'a deliberate about it. It takes some practice to sort it all out, but I reckon you'll do all right.

( Victorian immunity vs a modern day flu? yeah, he's high-key Concerned. )
When did your cough start?
audio | un: S.H.
[ For whatever "today" means on a space station and when one has trouble sleeping. ]
[Voice, un: dr watson]
[ Mostly muttered to himself, sort of exasperated, but it's also an expression of sympathy.
Also, he's a doctor and knows that flu vaccines and the like don't tend to be foolproof. Even so ... He would've hoped, with how advanced this place seems, this could be avoided. ]
Sounds like you should get some rest.
audio | un: S.H.
However, all three times, Sherlock's answer has stubbornly been the same. ]
I'm fine, Dr. Watson. What concerns me more is filling these gaps in my knowledge as quickly as possible.
[ And then he coughs again which does not help his argument. ]
no subject
Looks like he might have to use his patented "look after Sherlock against his will" technique. ]
I wish I could show you something called the internet. Unfortunately I haven't found a library or anything like that here.

audio; un: naruhodo (I'm sorry about this)
A new message comes in, and sure, those have been happening a lot lately. The network always seems to get a lot busier whenever there's been a round of new arrivals. Giving this one a quick listen, it catches his ear rather quickly, owing to both the year mentioned in it and the format it's read in.
...But then the real bombshell drops.
It gives him far greater pause than it probably should, but really, can you blame him? It's just FAR too weird. Without meaning to, he replies directly with his own audio message.]
Sh... Sherlock Sholmes...HOLMES... Sherlock. Sherlock?? Holmes?
[He's like, muttering it over and over under his breath, trying to wrap his head around it? Broken. He's broken. It's just a NAME, it really shouldn't be that mind blowing but. IT'S JUST WEIRD, MAN!]
audio | un: S.H. (never apologize)
Yes? I'm Sherlock Holmes. I take it you recognize my name.
no subject
Yes! I mean... Sort of? In a manner of speaking?
[Ugh.]
I'm terribly sorry, it's just... Your name is eerily similar to that of a good friend of mine. It's just throwing me off a bit.
