[let's talk about all that orb barrier stuff] - text (un: major.yzak.jule)
Before the location of our last mission is pinpointed, maybe we should have a discussion about what Viveca mentioned regarding the barrier holding up.
Namely, alternatives to every one of us giving up our reason for coming here. She did say to start thinking about it.
The commander's powers notwithstanding, plenty of us on this team undoubtedly possess abilities that could be offered in support. And there are plenty of people beyond us on this station who are aware of our mission and the gravity of what we're dealing with.
We've always been pretty good at coming up with solutions and contingency plans.

Arctic's voice chimes in, bitterly cold and seething with anger. It sounds like the words are being forcibly dragged out of him.]
...I... Have magic that may be of some use.
[He is loathe to bring this up, especially now that he's had proof his powers perhaps aren't working right... But he feels he has no other choice.]

What kind would that be?
[ Right to the point. Share with the class, dragonpal. ]

[He's still speaking authoritatively, with a hefty amount of gravitas. And to be fair... it is indeed a very serious subject.]
I can enchant objects. Make them do just about anything you can think of...
[Very specific and helpful explanation, thank you Arctic.
Yzak also can't possibly know it, but. Admitting that he has any magic at all is a very, very big deal for Arctic. He's not happy about having to resort to it, and it's apparent in his tone.]

And when you say make them do things... what do you mean by that? Does that include concepts like transmutation and changing what they are?

You're SUPPOSED. To enchant things. NOT people.
[That's as much as he'll say on the matter, and his tone brooks no argument.]
You can enchant treasure and trinkets meant to be worn, which will then apply effects to the bearer. That's easy enough. But there are a myriad of other applications; it all just depends on the phrasing of the spell.
[Probably easier to just give some examples, so...]
For example: In my homeland, we have our only land-locked border protected by an animus-touched ice cliff, which will kill any non-IceWing who tries to cross it without the proper escort. Another one of our more eccentric Animus dragons created special holes in the pack ice at three of our outer-most villages, where any dragon can stick in their claws and always pluck out a seal.

Though with the things Yzak has seen, he figures it's about as fucked up as something like mind control if it can affect someone's agency or physically without their consent. ]
Enchanting trinkets is common with the Charter Magic I can use, so I get what you mean. That's come in handy in the past.
You can create things, though? Seals, you said. So you can essentially use the magic to just ... make food? Does it require some sort of exchange?
