For those of you in the Plains: Mr. Holmes, Miss Natasha, Miss Ziggy, Dr. Watson, and I did, in fact, decide to investigate that odd tower that is visible in the distance. The four of them are continuing on today. I've stayed behind, as I was injured during the journey.

[And Yujin certainly sounds injured, if the strain and exhaustion in his voice is any indication. While he's not struggling to speak, per se, it's enough to make the voice-only post seem deliberate.

Oh yeah he should probably CLARIFY--] M-my wound isn't life-threatening, by the way! I just can't travel on it, is all. I am not in immediate danger.

[He clears his throat.]

At any rate. If there is any trouble at the tower, I thought it might be helpful for everyone to know where we were. And if anyone else is in need of aid, please don't forget that your teammates are within reach via the earpieces.

[Because "not in immediate danger" doesn't mean there's no actual danger.]

[A humorless chuckle:] Only if I suddenly become much more careless.

[Which isn't a yes or a no, but.]

Don't worry: I won't allow this to get any worse. Help is on the way.

[An eyebrow is raised. Not that Yujin can see it.]

All things considered that’s really not as reassuring as you want it to be.

Then I'll speak plainly. The injury is a bite from one of those wolf creatures, and I won't pretend it isn't serious. But it could also be far worse.

Good to hear you're stable.

[Does Natasha's voice sound a little strained? It might.]

Had to let the others go on without me. We were attacked by some Dai'a Svar, and we managed to take them out but I'm not up to the rest of the trip.

[Deadpan:]

And then there were three.

No...

[Yujin breathes out, concerned. He's always known Natasha to be one of the hardy ones of their group, which means... this isn't good news.]

You're somewhere safe? Do you need anyone to come get you?

[deaddrop]

[She is tough. She's also been known to put herself in harms way...]

I found a cave to hole up in for a little while. So far, no monsters or bandits. It's also not blisteringly hot, which is a plus.

[softshoes]

Then I hope it stays that way. At least until Stephen and I come to fetch you.

[deaddrop]

Don't worry too much about me. I'm pretty good at keeping myself alive.

[rehandle]

[ His voice comes coloured with the furious whip of wind as he makes his way onward, all business. ]

I'll come to you after I've landed with Yujin. Can you hold out there for an hour?

[ He may not need that long, but it's good to get an assessment all the same. ]

[Business is good for Natasha. She can handle business, especially when she's in pain.]

As long as there's no more surprises. Nothing urgent.

What are we looking at?

[ How urgent is not urgent, Romanoff? It's too soon to let her stop talking. He needs a better sense of how she is that's best acquired through her: whether or not the answer is honest, her response will tell him more than her silence. ]

[deaddrop]

The sharp pointy things didn't hit any major blood vessels, and I put pressure on them.

[Magic is a little outside of her realm of expertise, but field dressing some superficial fleshwounds is a little more in her wheelhouse.]

Oh my god, what did you do?

[deaddrop]

I didn't do anything.

[Yelena has a talent for putting Natasha on the defensive in a way very few other people can, like suddenly she's a middle schooler who scuffed her new shoes.]

We were attacked by a bunch of Dai'a Svar. I was trying to protect the others.

[laviny]

[Siiiiiigh.]

Of course you were.

[This is honestly less judgmental than it probably sounds, but still. There’s some exasperation here.]

[deaddrop]

[What else was she supposed to do?]

It's all right. Ice needles. They're cold, but other than that it's not the first sharp pointy thing I've been hit by.

For the record, your telling other people to be safe privileges are on thin ice.

[ It's a tense reply, as much as he's trying for humor. Chimed in from somewhere on the plains, the rush of wind audible as the Cloak hits top speeds, Yujin's earlier more direct call for help having him well on his way. ]

[softshoes]

I am being safe. As much as one can be out here, anyhow.

[Says the guy who went out into the wastes without anyone who had powers.]

I'm... sorry to trouble you, Stephen.

[rehandle]

There are holes in your leg.

[ Just to point that out for no particular reason.

But it loses some of the sudden blunt frustration with that apology. He mellows. Remembers that of the two of them, he's the one with the least reason to be stressed. ]

Be sorry you're hurt. You're not troubling me.

[softshoes]

[Got him there. Yujin doesn't argue it any further: they both know this could've been avoided.]

Then I'm sorry I was hurt. [he answers quietly. Again, he almost adds, but thinks better of it.] Truthfully, I should have asked you to come along in the first place.

Dr. Strange is on his way. I'll be all right until then.

One of those wolf-like creatures. Desert devils, I believe? They were drawn in by the smell of blood from our cuts and scrapes, and, well... [sigh.] The rest is history.

I'm just grateful mine was the only injury of note.
