yo, okay, so: hear me out

maybe i am going way too west side story with this, but i've really been thinking about it and does anyone think we could make a good show of family loyalty by some kind of stand against an opposing one???

obviously we don't have to REALLY hurt each other or anything, just, kinda, make it look like it. like a flash mob only with less dancing. unless you wanna dance and i guess then i wouldn't stop you i am just not sure how many points you'd get with the big guns with dance moves. unless they're really good dance moves. or the other families seem more into that sort of thing but lionetta is kinda not that vibe just saying wait what was i saying

right. flash mob. that's like, more of an actual mob. only with fake fighting. like wwe. just maybe don't hit anybody with chairs. or maybe you can, just ask first?

Yeah. I analyze the material, what it is made from and break it down, reconstructing it to something else. Or make it whole again to fix it if I have all the pieces for example and it was broken. Simple chemistry, really. But. Nobody should be after the Philosopher's Stone. I was, but. Then I found out what it was made from.

[And no. He couldn't accept using it after that. So he's trying to figure another way to get Al his body back instead.]

It's not worth it. Whatever anyone wants the Stone for in bypassing the laws of Equivalent Exchange. It's just not. There's a reason I'm looking for another way to help Al. And well, there's certain things someone back home forbid me to talk about. They aren't here, but. For all I know, they might show up. And I don't want to get anyone else hurt or killed because I said something.

[Because. Yeah, after what happened to Hughes. Ed's more wary on things. As much as Newton already had tried to reassure Ed on confiding in them here.]

okay, well, fair. i get that some secrets are best kept to yourself.

Yeah. Newton's told me I can open up here, but. Maybe eventually. In person or something. I just can't help being antsy over the idea. Yet, anyway.

i dunno. maybe, maybe not. we can still be teammates without telling each other everything.

( Peter is not the person to ask, whether it is good to keep secrets. clearly. ).

Everyone has some secrets. Especially given most of us didn't know each other before ending up here. The important thing is we know each other enough to trust each other to be able to work together.

yeah, enough to work together is probably important. i don't know. i'm classically not involved in a lot of teams. maybe some lab partners? those never ended that well

It's been me and Al back home. My brother. But sometimes we've worked with others too. Which mostly depends on if they acknowledge my skills and knowledge, given my age.

[Ed's a prodigy. But not everyone here necessarily knows about him being the youngest State Alchemist and all. So it's easier for people here to be more inclined to try keep an eye on him than letting him get too in the middle of things in protecting him.]

wait. how old are you, exactly?

Fifteen.

[Yes. Ed is a baby. Especially compared to most everyone else around. As one of the youngest it is no real surprise others have tried to keep an eye on him with the missions and all.]

that's not that young. but i get why people wouldn't vibe with listening to a teenager.

( as a teenager, who also is pretty used to adults not listening to him. granted he's 19 now, closer to an adult than a teenager anymore. )

I'm used to it. But at least back home, generally, people have heard of me and will listen. Here, that isn't necessarily the case without my usual reputation preceding me.

[The reputation of being the People's Alchemist. The prodigy.

Though. Here, Al isn't around to be mistaken for him. There is that. Ed still misses his brother every minute though.]

i guess you'll have to build up your rep all over again, but maybe not having a rep will turn out to be a good thing.

I mean, I think regardless I'll end up with some sort of reputation among these guys. Maybe different to the one I had back home but still.

[Hopefully no repeats of the likes of dealing with poor Mei and her broken dreams as her illusions of him from the stories she heard shattered upon meeting him in person......]

maybe. i'm not sure i'd want things here to be like they were at home. too nostalgic or homesick or something, you know?

Things back home were. Complicated. But. I have a promise to keep and if this is what it takes. I'll do it. For Al.

He's the only thing I'm homesick for.

[.....okay and missing Winry. But it isn't like he's about to actually admit that!]

We're all here for a reason. As long as we can work together and get through the missions. You don't have to tell me. I haven't exactly gone around telling everyone my reasons. But if and when you want to, if and when you're ready.

I get it. There's some stuff I'm not sure on blabbing either. Probably everyone's got at least one thing they'd prefer to keep to themselves. When -- if ever you're ready to tell whoever here to help you out, or just listen. Not like it bothers me, as long as I know you've got my back with the missions.
