yo, okay, so: hear me out

maybe i am going way too west side story with this, but i've really been thinking about it and does anyone think we could make a good show of family loyalty by some kind of stand against an opposing one???

obviously we don't have to REALLY hurt each other or anything, just, kinda, make it look like it. like a flash mob only with less dancing. unless you wanna dance and i guess then i wouldn't stop you i am just not sure how many points you'd get with the big guns with dance moves. unless they're really good dance moves. or the other families seem more into that sort of thing but lionetta is kinda not that vibe just saying wait what was i saying

right. flash mob. that's like, more of an actual mob. only with fake fighting. like wwe. just maybe don't hit anybody with chairs. or maybe you can, just ask first?

y/n/peter that is a seriously terrible idea? i dunno it was just a thought and i guess now that i thought it with my earpiece in all of you have to hear it sorry about that

oh yeah my name is peter, so, uh, hi i guess.

( and with that, Peter either physically took out his ear piece or spontaneously managed to stop thinking. I don't know about you, but I'm really guessing it wasn't the second one. )

To those who have recently arrived on the station, welcome. You are the third group to have contracted with the orbs--and I suspect not the last.

Since we have a diverse and changing group, I think it would be ideal for us to set up some sort of regular training schedule for everyone. While our last mission was a success, we were not very prepared for it.

[And exactly 0 of their teambuilding exercises have been about practical skills. He's finding that a little concerning.]

Though it would be better to formulate a practice schedule based on what skills we have and how we can coordinate them.

So, if you have a moment, even if you are not new to the station, please share whatever it is that you are experienced in. It does not have to be combative--just whatever you feel is your specialty.

I am a Mesmer, which is a profession of mage that specializes in illusions and distortions. Thhings such as phantasms, stealth, stuns... I use it mostly in combination with a sword and shield to fight.

((Feel free to threadjack around the post! There will be more concrete follow up for a group-wide training schedule post mission but everyone can share with the class now to facilitate grouping together in the mission.))

Welcome, new meat! My name's Newton, I'm your kind and welcoming local scientific genius rockstar. Pleased to meet you, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. Important things to know about me: I love rock music, I love playing the guitar, I love being elbow-deep in my xenobiology work, and I love finger foods. Also, I have a winning personality.

There's approooximately 35 to 40 other experienced weirdos lurking around this ship, same team as you, not including our lovely AI Viveca — who you can so lovely call 'Viv'! So I figured I might as well give you all a heads up about each and every one of the unlikely and likely heroes roaming these halls.

[The following is an audio-to-text recording called 'Meet the Crew!'.]

MEET THE CREW IF YOU DARE )

And there you have it! Your wonderful, super capable, super talented Ximilia crew! I'm wanting the full details of you new people in return, just for the record. A/S/L, hobbies, special skills, deep dark secret backstories, all of it. Fork 'em over now, or it'll be off to the airlocks with you. Chop-chop.

( moonlit tree stumps, given over to decay. rustling leaves, murmuring their own eerie language. water, trickling over stones and old roots, and against the bark of an oak, lan wangji, the planes of his face brought to bold relief by the crackling flames nearby. his headband is uncommonly crooked. his hair, stringier, skin maybe a bit sallow, and pale. in lieu of lithe, graceful movements, stiffness, the bow he offers as salutations almost a struggle. it’s a warning, essentially. a vision of what’s to come, if they fail to find a cure, a fate already known by too many.

but he hasn’t shown up empty-handed. there’s a piece of parchment between his fingers, and on it, a map, drawn somewhat shakily. it’s clear enough to depict the location of the palace, as well as a path leading much farther away, somewhere unmistakably foresty, with a name just above the final destination: yuryeong.

the visual fades, replaced by a texted message: )

The dead have spoken. Seek shelter, lest extraneous voices join theirs. We have heard the plea of Gyeongje, now we must heed So-Yeon’s truth.

( ooc; lwj was successfully busted out of the infirmary with mod permission before the Big Operation. he's now chilling in the ghost girl's hideout and since the way to yuryeong hadn't yet been icly shared... well, have a map! or imagine one anyway because my drawing skills are atrocious. also, he's turning into literal jade. expect answers to abruptly stop coming. )

Hello. I hope that I am utilizing the communication device correctly. I am grateful that I have received leniency from the guards as I know some have been put into cells for indiscretions against the palace. Breaking rules is not something I am so accustomed to.

The point of my communication is that it isn't time for the scheduled meal they usually hold for us, so I can't simply put this onto a table for the public to enjoy. I have a moderate amount of soup to offer those who may want some.

I will try to show you somehow.

shortly after the text communication comes a two second video of a wonton soup in a metal bowl, still steaming in her line of sight.

I am located in the ninth room on the left side of the hall. If it is more convenient, I can also bring some to you.

It's been a few days since the mission started but I'm hoping I'm not the only one who has been tasked with something specific while we're here, right?

It's pretty obvious we need to work together for the mission to get the orb but I figure in the spirit of that, we can help each other out with our respective personalized goals and exchanging information too, if you feel like sharing it? You don't have to if you're uncomfortable but I just thought it could be beneficial especially since we all come from varying backgrounds and have different skillsets too.

I'll start off though to get things going. I know I'm feeling a bit out of my element with mine since it's related to the monsters so I do have a couple questions:

1. Has anyone dealt with monsters and have experience with them back where they are from?
2. I know it hasn't been too long since we got here but has anyone found out any information on the monsters in this city or anything else for this mission outside of what we've been told?

You can let me know privately if you prefer but it would be good to know for all of us before someone does something stupid or whatever else especially with how dangerous it sounds out in the city with these monster around too so having more information doesn't hurt either.

[ooc; Feel free to go wild and threadjack if you want to share your own personal goals to get / offer up help to Clarke or anyone else really and/or just provide any other information. Clarke is using this as a bit of a catch all for both those things and maybe get some discussion going]
bindsthedead: (art-cause for concern)

Greetings. I'm a new arrival here, and while I have many questions, I think it might be best to start with an introduction- my name is Sabriel. I'm a Charter mage and- the Abhorsen, which means I'm also a necromancer, although rest assured, I do not raise the Dead. [Sabriel's voice grows more emphatic on that last point. Hopefully it will reassure people.] I lay them to rest.

In any case, I think it might be best if we organized ourselves- we need to gather information about this place, and recover the Orb, and that will be easier if we combine our skills. How many among us can fight? How many are mages, or have some knowledge of healing, either through medicine or magic? How many of us are willing to teach our skills to those that lack them? I could teach people how to use swords, or Charter magic, or the basics of first aid and wilderness navigation, for example.

In addition to pooling our skills, I think we should coordinate for the mission- it's likely this 'ghost girl' has the orb, but what is she? A restless spirit? A human with the power to control the monsters? Or some other sort of creature disguised as a human? And there's something strange about the city- there have been many deaths in the inner city- so I suppose they weren't lying about it not being safe, a normal amount in the Merchant District... and none at all in the outer city. Are we sure it hasn't been abandoned?

I'll see what the Dead can tell me, and what I can learn from the living.

[ooc: Feel free to threadjack amongst yourselves.]
