[There's a bit of a hesitant pause, before;]

I do feel like we can say with a relative amount of certainty that there is some sort of higher power in Taeum, presumably the Highest One that Angrial refers to, and they seem, based on what Finn and I sensed, to have an Orb. I'm not sure what that means for reports of the orb potentially being in Sedorum, but frankly, this whole situation is bullshit and if there are in fact two orbs or two parts of one whole orb that we have to figure out a way to combine, I wouldn't be surprised.

In any case, this is Trafalgar Law, reporting in that Daisy, Finn, Cora and myself have been branded traitors and taken into custody for attempting to breach the area where the orb is contained. I don't have access to my abilities and I assume the same goes for the other three.
[A long pause where Law presumably just silently ruminates on the fact that he has ended up in Heaven Jail and really of course this would happen.]

This is not a request for a rescue, simply something to keep in mind as work to find the orb continues. As well as a test on my part to confirm that our comms are still functional from in here.

[ETA: Despite what Law says there is now an OOC plotting post re: potential jailbreak ideas.]

cw: the eye one is the worst tbh

You mean all that's real, though? Because sometimes the packages Viveca gets in come with these weird warning labels. I'll show you next time that happens.

[That's right, it's not just the standard surgeon general warning, it's these grotesque things that the Ximilia keeps picking up for him. But hell, he's not blind and he's not having any babies and his lungs are fine, right?]

Because lots of people smoke and they seem to be just fine? Why's smoke any worse than anything else you breathe? It just goes away.

[Rosinante is quite smart about a lot of things, he really is, but also he's a product of a very mixed bag when it comes to life, and a whole bunch of Marines haven't always set the best of examples.

Anyway, he believes Law, but he'd like an explanation.]
callada: (this is definitely going in my writeup)

[Well, that's hardly fair. His blank expression, directed at the wall, mirrors Law's tone of voice.]

Yes. The stuff that makes you cough and gasp and die. Doesn't quite seem like the same thing, does it?

[Alcohol's a more obvious poison, but he won't protest. He's been drunk. He's seen how badly people can hurt themselves when it's overdone. Has anyone ever overdosed on cigarettes? That's nonsense.]

So what's moderation, for smoking?

[This whole conversation is making his withdrawals worse, he swears. He'll have to smoke like eight at once when he gets out just to make up for it.]
callada: (are you actually high right now?)

[personal profile] callada 2022-04-23 03:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Maybe he shouldn't have asked, but he knew he wasn't going to like the answer anyway.]

...

Guess I'd burn myself less.

[So this is not a "yes definitely going to cut back," but. He might think about it. Maybe.]
callada: (borb)

Yeah, probably. Almost set the kitchen on the Ximilia on fire a few times anyway. No cigarettes needed there.

[And given he had both a lantern and a cooking fire at various points in Scorpion's Bend, it's a wonder he didn't burn that town down. He almost mentions the place, for a moment, but decides against it. There will be more comfortable opportunities for him to tell Law about some of their nightmarish past missions. Being stuck in jail and unable to do anything isn't when you want to hear about a disaster in a mining city.]

I'll see about slowing it down. Might be good, since sometimes cigarettes get hard to come by on these missions. I don't like not being able to stay sharp.
callada: (an ominous storm on the horizon)

Hey.

[No mostly he thinks it's funny, but also, please don't think in that kind of medical detail about his lungs, that's weird, let his lungs be!!]

If I wind up with a problem you can find out, all right?
callada: (no puedo controlarlo)

[personal profile] callada 2022-04-25 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
O... kay. Good? That's good. And I wouldn't mind learning more about how you've worked out all the cool things you can do with your powers...

[But this is still mega creepy, dude. He's just not saying that part.]
callada: (recuerdos de su condición)

[personal profile] callada 2022-04-25 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
And you know me.

[No pretending with Law that he's not plenty accident-prone himself, after all.]

Come to think of it, I haven't visited an actual doctor for myself in years.
callada: (wasn't me)

[personal profile] callada 2022-05-05 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
What? C'mon, other than you helping out once you found us, when would I have had time?

[Okay, that said, thirteen year old Law was already pretty much a real doctor, so maybe that's unfair.]

Can't say I disagree. But it wasn't exactly a priority for my brother, I guess.

[Just one of many failings.]

So this means I'm overdue for a checkup by... Five years? That's not too bad.
