[ if someone told clarice she'd be reaching out to the rest of her cohort almost the instant she finds her footing on the station, she'd have laughed in their face. frankly, she would have preferred to keep her head down, stay out of the way until she was needed.
but some things were necessary, and dealing with a whole set of people whose backgrounds and experiences she had no clue about necessitated some information-gathering.
reaching out anonymously seemed like a good compromise. ]

[ she's here for one reason, and one reason only. making a list of those she had to steer clear from is only going to help her achieve her goal in the long run. ]

makes them look different, or gives them abilities regular people don't have
sometimes one or the other or both
i guess in some ways those abilities can seem like magic
but it's not something anyone can just tap into

Some magic isn't available to everyone- particular powers tied to particular bloodlines, that sort of thing. But where I'm from, much of it can be used by everyone, if they're properly trained.

yeah, its a little different here
don't know if any of the stuff i know can be taught
sure as hell don't know anyone who does what i do and can teach me about it
all of what i know, i had to learn the hard way

That sounds... impressive, learning that way. Even when I didn't have teachers, I had books.

it's kind of comforting, if a little bittersweet
i don't know about impressive
because of the way i look, i knew i was different since the day i was born
but it wasn't until i was a little older that i found out what i could do
it was... pretty terrifying
