text — uns: joe & nicky
I don't know if anyone else has watched the documentary about the mayor, but it's a good watch. Is there TiVo in the future? Do you remember TiVo, amore? It recorded the TV, we had one in that hotel in Châtelet. Oh.
[ yes, joe is talking to nicky at the same time and clearly everyone is being gifted his stream of consciousness thoughts/words. local grandpa needs to stop going on the internet. ]
For those of you that haven't watched it, it's a gripping tale of the mayor's rise to power and his almost downfall when his wife shockingly spoke out against the government spending. Alexandra was sent to the labour camps and if she's alive, she's been there for nine years. They also had a daughter who they purposely kept off the record so there is little known about her, freckles, mostly. She would have been 17 when her mother was imprisoned and she would be about 26 now. Jesus, she's a baby, Nicky.
[ sorry all 26 year old orbers, you are baby children. joe doesn't make the rules. ]
How old was that boy you spoke to? Hmm. Nicky spoke to one of the law students, Callan Dela Cruz, a very sweet boy. You should all read his articles, he's an exceptional journalist. Okay, I'll stop, floor is yours, habibi.
[A private smile is exchanged between them, Nicky as always enraptured by Joe's effervescence.]
Callan was very charismatic, self-assured. I didn't get his age, amore. It wasn't the focal point of our conversation. What he did tell me was that "the fox," disappeared four years ago, and among the various theories are notions that the fox was a government agent who captured the fables all along. There are also many who think that they are in the labor camp or detained and in holding.
Callan himself believes that the fox, the hare, and the wolf were all founding members of the fables and like family.
[Nicky's quiet for a moment, his own brain meandering around the details, putting things together for himself as well as their team. Quietly. Thoughtfully.]
Even though the wolf hasn't been seen for years, Mr. Dela Cruz believes they're still around. Eye witness reports have put a person with a wolf mask in the Third Circle.
[ another brief pause. ]
Right, that's what we've got.
[ joe is green and nicky is blue. ]

Oh absolutely. He got a groundswell of sympathy after her trial so he clearly knows how to spin circumstances to his favour. Most of the citizens here genuinely believe his daughter suffered enough of a shock she needed to be squirreled away from society though I have a very gruff coworker who called bullshit on that immediately. Freckles was grounded so she wouldn't join the Fables and skew favour away from the Mayor
Considering the last two missions I've been on, it's only a matter of time before someone finds themselves imprisoned
no subject
grounded?
[ is she dead, jim ]
it happened in the mission before the train too?
no offense but how did this team ever succeed
no subject
[ its not that joe thinks the mayor is a good guy not capable of murder, it's that murder would probably go poorly for him and the mayor is very, very clever. ]
Power in numbers, can't arrest everyone
no subject
that's 100% what a politician would do
ugh gross
the documentary wouldn't have happened to show where he lived, would it?
[ a Dangerous Idea is starting to form in her head. best nip it in the bud before it blossoms. ]
sounds like a jinx waiting to happen

[ clearly joe is all about bad decisions but bad decisions with all the information possible. ]
Can I ask what 182 means? I have so many ideas and I can't decide which one is more likely.
no subject
they let you tour his place? or just the building it's in?
[ surely it can't be that easy... ]
oh that
it's
a corny joke, to be honest
why don't you shoot me your top three
no subject
Okay my top 3:
• 182nd Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force
• the Star of Bombay, it's 182-carats and I would like to wear it
• the number 182 because it's an even nontotient which is just a value of Euler's totient function in number theory smiley face
Damn it why can't I make a smiley face anymore
no subject
probably for the best
i really don't want to add to the jail squad
not even close but damn
remind me to have you name my stuff next time
if you really want to know, i'll tell you
but know that it's super lame compared to your top three
as for the smiley face i think you really have to like
think extra hard about it
no subject
[ no he is not, he's thinking about nicky's ass so like maybe he should just be pleased he's not spamming peach emojis by accident. clearly viveca put child safety locks on his texting, as she fucking should. ]
I would really like to know, please
no subject
[ she won't demonstrate. emojis are lame!! ]
but alright
so there's this thing i can do
basically make portals that can take you from place to place
i got into the habit of calling it "blinking"
and back where i'm from, there's this band i used to listen to called blink 182..........
look i told you it was lame
