Noticed an influx of new and kinda-new faces over the last few days or weeks or whatever.

So here's my handy dandy welcome board! Recently updated, to keep with the times.

Read it over and get a feel for how this place goes; I'm gonna finish off this coffee before I take any questions.

I'm a farmer, and I live in a cabin with my foster boy. We've no room for candy or movie or other such things.

[Alright, he doesn't usually participate much in Newt's weird quizzes and question sheets, but he recognizes a fellow "not born in the same era as the overwhelming majority" orber when he sees one, and can't help offering a helping hand.]

Don't worry about it, some of the questions don't apply to all of us. We don't have TV or movies where I'm from either.

Not exactly. You heard Viveca's message about being able to undo something you regret, right? The people here trying to do the same have been pulled from countless different worlds and times.

It probably sounds impossible, I know, but that's the truth. I'm from a place called Earth, but from many hundreds or thousands of years in the past of some of the others here.

I have looked in the face of the impossible before, in any case. Anything we face will surely be far from the strangest thing I've witnessed

I believe you, the people here do tend to be the kind who've witnessed the impossible before. Still, I hope that you'll be able to see wondrous things beyond your imagination while you're here. I know I have.

Have you? I've seen more caution for the worse, than intrigue for the better.

I won't pretend things can't be extraordinarily difficult here at times, but in my experience that's merely the result of living life rather than our particular mission...even if the types of difficulties are certainly different, I'll give you that.

But there is beauty too. I've seen worlds built on the ocean floor and machines designed for every kind of need a person could ever have and then some. I've been in a ship that travels the stars. And I've met people here who are wondrous too.

So don't let anyone worry you too much.

I don't know if I am, I've never been accused of that before. [It's just hard to be cynical about all of this when he's not supposed to be here anyway.]

Maybe it's just that living here is simpler than it was in my world. It's hard not to be grateful for that.

It must be quite the world, if living in the stars is simple by comparison.

Living in the stars doesn't involve bureaucracy and politics, that's all. Or at least I'm more removed from any of it.
