Does anyone know how to knit?

Or, alternatively, does anyone volunteer to be the recipient of some awful beginner scarves and mittens or whatever under the assumption that I fill that first position.

I'm thinking it's about time for me to pick up a new hobby. Something that doesn't involve beating people up.

I'm terrible at it, but technically, I know of knitting. Wouldn't mind awful projects.

How about knucklebones?

Not so much. You toss the knucklebones up and see how many you can catch on the back of your hand. Not that your opponents won't try distracting you, they always do. You just can't interfere directly.

I made a set when the transporter dumped me back here instead of where you all went.

So there's some skill involved. Sounds like dexterity.

You'd have to show me, but I wouldn't mind learning.

If that gets old, we can fall back on knitting again.

And if the knitting gets boring we can spar with the needles. Keep everyone on their toes!

I'm happy to show you, more fun than playing on my own. Dexterity, speed, seeing where they're falling — it's not complicated, but it's good for passing some time.

Oh, I expect that will happen eventually one way or another.

Sounds like the kind of game you could get a fair amount of people in on.

And like a lot of them might be good at it. Those skills aren't uncommon around here—good idea to keep them sharp.

I figured I'd give everyone a day of recovery before tossing them around as something to do, but I think you're right. Especially if people gamble with something small on the line, like we used to do.

You could always try to get people interested next movie night. There's usually some games then.

Kind of gets busy those nights, but I'll think about it! Or make it some morning thing, after everyone's eaten.

I'm sure knitting and movie nights go well together on the other hand. Very sure.

But morning is a good idea. Wait until everyone is hung over.

You mentioned dice earlier, what kinds of dice games do you know?

Yahtzee?

Probably I could come up with some others.

Probably. I haven't checked.

You only need two six sided dice for craps, which is a pretty reasonable ask.

You need five for yahtzee, but still seems doable.

As many as you want, really. Too many probably gets chaotic, but that's part of the fun.

Good point, should invite everyone, see who shows up for the fun sort of chaos. I don't think we're going to have too much time before the next thing happens, from what I heard announced when you all returned.

It can vary a fair amount mission to mission, but... well, it's never actually that long, is it?

[And it hasn't usually been a good sign when it is.]

Guess it depends on how you look at the time. If you get spat back out, not knowing what's happening, everything feels longer. Then it feels short again.

There's a theory that the busier you are, the faster time seems to go when you're living it and the longer it seems when you look back on it in retrospect.
