（ it's funny, television is just such a western pasttime, but he isn't really much for it. he can't think of the last time he sat down on a couch and kicked his feet up and watched anything that wasn't put on by company. when he's alone, he drinks and studies the dust on the ceiling and the trash he leaves around because he can't be assed to take his twelve day old takeout to the bin. so it takes him a moment to scour through his shitty patchwork memory to grab something that's recentish and relevantish — ）

I watched through that more recently. It's fun, though I can't say I relate much to any kind of office work environment.

I know what you mean, but I don't think what's on a screen is entirely without soul either.

I didn't exactly have many chances to go see a play where I grew up. War mostly kept people off the streets and a lot of entertainment was limited. But those shows gave me a different world to live in for a while. The families in it, the laughter, the love. It saved me.

I was born and raised in Sokovia until a few years ago. It's a very small country in Eastern Europe. I eventually moved to New York. The northern part, not the city. But then I started to travel for a while. [ life on the run. ] Never had the chance to go to Canada though.

（ he's never heard of sokovia, but that... doesn't mean all that much. he's not exactly a geographer, and he hasn't spent much time in that area anyhow. ）

canada's a beautiful place. if u get the chance i say go for it. if u like naturey shit i have some recs.

if u like city shit then toronto and vancouver are p. good places to go.

I've had more free time lately. Maybe I'll visit.

idk if i'd give myself a label. i play a lot of things. like a lot of music. it's been a lifelong thing for me.

So is that your actual passion then? Making music?

I wouldn't call myself a musician. Far from it. But I can at least say I do know how to play a bit of guitar.

music is a medium i use to reach them, i guess.

（ so, he obligingly swaps to video and she gets a Properly Stunning^TM acoustic rendition of: sunrise by duran duran. it's clear his guitar playing is better than his singing — every motion is practiced and smooth as if he's done this a thousand times, he doesn't have to look at his hands for any of the peskier chords, and there's not a sour note among them.

— his voice isn't bad, per se, it's just clearly not his forte. no american idol in his future. but for the most part, no one would chase him off a stage.

the final riff gets a bit of playful improv, and then he takes a (very exaggerated) bow, guitar in hand before he winks broadly at her and turns the video off. ）

[ she wonders if he's the type to spend his time boasting only to perform below par, but when he starts to play, she's genuinely surprised to hear how natural his fingers move along the strings. she could perform a few songs, but the uncertainty is always easy to catch in her chords, nothing like the seamless motions of his performance. even his voice, for all that it might not be perfect, ties well with the intentions of his playing.
