so uh question
what's on the north end of the station? anybody know? I mean the rest of the place is cool and all but going wherever I want is kind of my whole thing these days and I can't get there which is
weird
or jump between universes anymore
I mean HEY it's not like I want to leave or anything! if whoever's in charge is watching this network which I'm 100% sure they are haha please don't kick me out. just saying, the whole multiverse thing was kind of my ~thing~ and now it's not and it's weird/spooky that they can even take that away to begin with but
yeah anyway
north end of the station is a big ol question mark
also does anybody have some spare yttrium lying around? anyone from the science/phd crowd? maybe some liquid nitrogen? no reason why

For the rest, have you tried the kitchen? I've found all sorts of strange things in there.
Could you explain jump between universes. Please?
no subject
kinda disappointing actually, thought they'd have a cool scifi monster lab or something up there
I'll check the kitchen again, yttrium isn't exactly fridge material but the nitrogen might actually be there. pretty sure they use it in fancy desserts. probably not the amount I'm looking for but hey any little bit helps right
[ mmmMMMMMMMM that last bit. he has to chew on how he's going to answer that one. ]
and yeah it's uh
I kind of have these portal things? spots? holes? people get weird when I call them holes. used to be able to check out different universes when I had enough juice but whatever universe this place is in, I'm stuck here. pretty crazy actually if you think about it
the people in charge must be pretty powerful if they can stop a reality warping superbeing from doing any reality warping. not gonna brag or anything but I was a pretty big deal back home
[ sort of!! he was getting there. Spider-Man probably would've shit his spandex if they'd gotten to fight again, he's sort of bummed out that it never quite happened. ]

[And what a temptation it was. The orbs fighting to break free of the containment field and offering him everything he had ever wanted - if only he would stop. If the commander would let them be free and the sweetness of the offer still came to him, late at night and on restless dreams.]
There is nothing but darkness outside of this station, no holes of any color.
You can usually travel between worlds? I want to hear more about this, were you born like this. mister-- quantumania?

How does that work?

you're one of the people that knows what quantum physics is right? or are you from like the black plague era because that's going to change the explanation by a lot

The North Wing is also where the previous crew's quarters are located. We have been allowed into that section of the station during emergencies, but. It's generally off limits for a reason.
Miss Viveca is the one in charge of the network. But if I had to guess, I'd think any power changes that you might be experiencing are more likely a side effect of the Orbs. Granted, I've never had any supernatural powers myself, so I'm hardly an expert on how that works. I just know that when things turn strange, you can usually blame the orbs.

(hey Viveca!)
sooooo these orbs, right? the other guy said they warp reality but it's got a price. or something. what's up with that? sounds like a wishmaster thing
kind of just heard the "fix your regret" part and jumped, guess I should've read the fine print huh

Srry I got buried and let this sit for longer than intended!
...Um. Yes.
They did.
[He'll just let that one sit a sec so you can feel BAD ABOUT YOURSELF FOR MAKING THAT JOKE, BUDDY.]
Please understand that this is a complicated and tragic story, one that I'm not about to impart the grim specifics of. But suffice to say: yes, there was another crew here before us. Something-- I think it's still not entirely clear what, but we can likely blame the orbs for this as well-- went wrong with the Commander of the station at the time. He turned on the crew. Many lives were lost, but one of the survivors was able to strike a deal with an orb, and had his lost comrades revived and returned to their own worlds... Sans their memories of the Ximilia.
THAT is the sort of power the orbs hold. My understanding is that each one is actually part of a greater whole, and the idea is that if we gather them all, whatever force is restored in doing that will be able to grant us what we seek without incurring such a cost. But on their own, each orb craves chaos, and is full of volatile power. Deals can be made with them on an individual basis, but as you have already heard: there's always a price.

[ probably could've been a bit more subtle, but he's also impatient these days. and/or was hoping there was another kooky quantum physicist knockin' about who had all the goodies already. ]
just wanna run a teeny little experiment, that's all
I mean hey, didn't spend all that time sobbing over the ol phd thesis for nothing, right? plenty of nifty tech in this place that they didn't have back in brooklyn, might as well check it out
[ nah he's totally scoping out mini-collider materials in case he starts running out of holes. shouldn't happen for a while, he's beefed up since that slapfight with Spider-Man, but being Just A Weird Guy again isn't an option on a mission. ]

for a guy with a phd, you're sure lacking the usual ego
you sure you don't want to go on a rant about how the thing you want to experiment with is great, how it will change the world?

@strange, private. (see also, just in case: sorry in advance)
Then the Spider-Man name drop and it all gets a little bit closer to home. Private lock on to prevent any accidental infobombs for the rest of those from their neck of the multiverse, and... ]
What year was it before you came here?
[ First thing's first: is he about to spoil himself for his own future or is he a safe few universes removed. ]
oh my god never be sorry, this is everything i could ever want lmao
he's kind of excited, actually. ]
uhhh 2023? late july?
brooklyn??
[ yeah that last part probably wasn't necessary but he's been universe hopping, it can't exactly hurt. ]

go wherever you want? even different universes? holy fuck
why would they try to stop that
sounds useful
[BEYOND useful, even if it freaks him out a bit to contemplate.]

I mean there's always the possibility there are no other dimensions in this
miniverse? pocket dimension? and that's what's keeping me here but that is just a whole. whole other deal I don't have the pen and paper to figure out right now yknow
[ oh wow he is actually so super flattered rn though. bless u cain ]
but they still work in this universe!
been portaling around the rest of the station just fine. really cuts down on travel time with all these hallways all over the place. kinda feel bad for you guys honestly
[ but everybody else also gets to have toes so it works out. ]
