Its been about four weeks. Though I guess I should say Earth weeks. Twenty-seven days since we started turning up. Two since it started happening again.

[Which begs the question, when does it stop? Seventy-two beds on this area of the station. Are they planning to keep going after that?]

Viveca is the name of the AI that spoke to us all then. Some of you may have spoken to her already. She went missing though, a couple of days after we arrived. There was a power cut, she said something about an emergency mode, and then she was gone.

We got a delivery right before that though. Clothes, toiletries, books, food. A bunch of stuff showed up and got split out.

That was when there were twenty-seven of us. Looks like we've about doubled since then. So if you new folks needs something, ask. There's probably someone here who can help.

Speaking of, we're stuck relying on those drops to get fresh food. So don't hog it. There's kids here who need it too.

[Edward]

A guy I know. He cooks up huge batches of food at a time. If you're hungry, check the fridge. Nine times out of ten, he's left something in there you can have.

[And if not, giving Sam a look will probably be more than enough to get him to make something new.]

You've also all probably noticed that you can't get in to the Northern Wing. Its been like that since we first got here, and we've got no idea what's on the other side. It's classified, apparently. Messing with whatever's on the other side would affect us all, so I wouldn't suggest trying to break through.

Don't know about you guys, but I don't plan on getting tossed out an airlock if I can help it.

[And that's it. No sign off. No goodbye. No anything. Sorry?]

[ooc: Feel free to threadjack as much as you like! Bucky's using this post as an information exchange.]

I'd have to analyze it to know what material I'm working with, but. Once I figure what it's made from, more or less. Alchemy can be pretty versatile. Amestris just mostly uses it in the sense of the military. Towards fighting.

[Sam can probably guess the applications of it in regards to quickly creating weapons and such. That some might abuse such abilities. Which isn't even going into the likes of Roy with his flame alchemy for example in how powerful and devastating that could be in a fight.]

Why? You got something in particular you worry might break?

[ oh he can imagine alright. the things the government and hydra have been doing with gamma radiation, conked up super soldier serums, the mind stone, the tesseract... yeah... not a far stretch to think of how an ability like Ed's might translate to war. ]

not yet. it's pretty damn resilient, but I mean... we're in space now, who am I to tell what crazy shit we might encounter.

True. Hopefully whatever you have will stay resilient. Back home, this one guy specialized in alchemy stopping at the deconstruction stage. Absolutely destroyed my auto-mail, and most of Al's armor for that matter. I have a different model now, so it's not made of the same metal as back then (iron), but. Still isn't invincible. And here, I don't have Winry to fix it for me if something happens. So I know I gotta be careful.

[There are indeed some pretty brutal and dark experiments regarding alchemy. In spite of the laws, in spite of the ethics one would assume would stop that sort of thing occurring.]

I'm out of context - auto-mail? you got some sort of tech that needs fixing?
chrysology: (Inside my mind)

Auto-mail prosthetics. My right arm and left leg. They're metal, wired directly into the nerves so I can move them pretty much as usual. Just some finer motor skills like writing is trickier with auto-mail. so I learned to use my left hand for that. It isn't broken at the moment at least.

I asked and a couple people seem keen to have a look though. And Clarke said she knows medical stuff so maybe she can help with that aspect of it. Auto-mail is kinda both engineering and knowing biology with connecting the nerves and all.

[ alright then, baby barnes. seriously, that is eerily familiar.

at any rate, mostly Sam was curious if in a pinch, the kid might be able to fix vibranium should him or Bucky encounter anything extra nasty that manages to scratch their fancy gear up. ]

sounds like it needs some maintenance, then. you got sensory input with that arm and leg too, if they're wired into your nervous system?
chrysology: (From the sight)

[personal profile] chrysology 2021-07-05 09:57 am (UTC)(link)
[There's a reason for the Title the Fuhrer gave him, his username on the network here.]

I can manage basic maintenance on it. Winry, my mechanic, gets on my case about that enough. But if it breaks, I won't be able to fight as well. Won't be able to transmute to use alchemy. At least, not without drawing a transmutation circle with my left hand.

It mostly hurts with putting the arm back on, reattaching the nerves. I can feel enough to not break something I'm holding. Though even that took practice initially with the rehab.
