Disheveled but more than happy to provide his services after dragging himself out of bed, he taps his knuckle on the chalkboard beside him — one that used to be Hermann Gottlieb's, may he rest in peace (in a not dead way — may he rest in peace on a beach or something while wholly alive and thriving).]

Noticed an influx of new and kinda-new faces over the last few days or weeks or whatever.

So here's my handy dandy welcome board! Recently updated, to keep with the times.

Read it over and get a feel for how this place goes; I'm gonna finish off this coffee before I take any questions.

No. I just told him I knew it was in early spring.

It's a largely North American thing. April 20 aka 4/20 aka 420, also known as a code for cannabis.

He gave you the weed day for your birthday.

Should that mean anything to me?

Do you not have cannabis in your world?

It's basically a holiday for people who like to smoke it.

I don't think so, unless we know it by another name.

Do you mean smoking like preserving meat?

It's a drug.

Smoking like getting high. Though it also comes in edible forms.

Oh. And it's meant to be on that day? Is it a festival day?

[oiorpata]

Honestly I don't remember how the number came to be associated with it, but people just use the day to be more brazen about using it. Maybe get together in public spaces or with friends. There are probably festivals somewhere, but it's technically illegal in some places too.

I just wouldn't be surprised if Newt chose 4/20 on purpose to be funny.

I didn't get to celebrate it anyway since we were on a mission and since I've never celebrated it before, it's no great loss. I can certainly share a made up day with another made up day used as an excuse to be high.

Could be worse days for a birthday you don't do much with anyway.

I suppose so. But I'll keep this in mind the next time I ask Newt for anything.

[ He's not mad by any stretch, but he is curious if being from a different world than most makes him more gullible or out of the loop. ]

Unfortunately for Newt I've been around the block too many times.

Which basically means I'm old as shit and he has to try harder.

[ Yeah, he was picturing a block of wood and trying to figure that out. ]

He must consider it a challenge to win.

Probably, considering he hasn't yet.

I'm not sure which one of you I should offer good luck to. Probably him. I doubt you need it.

He'll need all the luck he can get.

I'm sure it will give him enough amusement. He hardly seems like a quitter when he's determined.

The man's stubborn as fuck. I'll leave it up to him whether or not that's a compliment.

[ she will continue to talk about newt in the open, fully aware he can see it. ]

[ It hasn't really bothered Joric to talk about Newt like this either. He knows if the man wants to butt in, he will. ]

I wouldn't be surprised if it was to him. Anyway, I'll be sure to keep a good amount of skepticism around him, harmless as his actions are.
