Noticed an influx of new and kinda-new faces over the last few days or weeks or whatever.

So here's my handy dandy welcome board! Recently updated, to keep with the times.

Good thing this is through text because nobody is the wiser to the way Yzak feels his chest squeeze tightly, the way he nearly forgets to breathe for a moment. Losing Peter hurt enough. But to have him back and being forgotten. That's one thing Yzak does not deal well with.

There's a considerable gap of time before he can bring himself to send anything back. Part of him is glad he's not face-to-face with the other man because he wants to yell at him - yell at Peter for being a fucking idiot and how dare he do this and just ... leave him alone, leave him behind in forgetting him. Despite knowing full well that this happens and it's not his fault. But feelings don't tend to care about logic very much, do they? ]

I see. [ What else can he say to that? ]

[ Buds. That's one way of putting it. Sometimes going through his clothes he'll still find a miniscule piece of glitter stuck somewhere on a specific outfit he wore one evening on E-23b. And he'll remember. And it'll snowball because he'll remember how Peter was part of that happiness he'd had a hard time adjusting to but was actually allowing himself to accept and to keep for himself. Now it really is all gone like a stinging reminder that he should have known better than to go beyond just wanting it.

[ A majority of the things he cared about most here are gone now. Ripped from him despite how much he wanted to or actually tried to hang on to them. And the yearning he had - has to get them back so badly, somehow ... was something like this what he wanted?

Maybe this is just another stinging slap to the face to mock him, show him yet again that he shouldn't have wished for something like that at all for himself, because look what happens. He doesn't want a redo, he doesn't want to start from the very beginning. He wants what he had so he simultaneously wants to reject this but there's that part of him that knows none of this is Peter's fault, knows how much a rejection would hurt for something like that. Knows how much rejection tears at someone in general.

It's true. There is no reason they can't be friends now. Except for Yzak himself and the fear that begins to bubble back up inside of him that he can tentatively reach for this and only have it end the same way, all over again. And yet like a moth (and such a stupid moth, he thinks) drawn to a flame and the warmth and light that it offers he wants to move toward it, despite the burns he already carries. ]

I guess there is that.

I'm not going to tell you to fuck off or anything, if that's what you're afraid of.

[ It's not a no by a long shot, but not exactly a warm, enthusiastic yes. Which is probably the best thing possible at the moment. ]

[ Thankfully Peter's made of tougher stuff and being told to 'fuck off' would be pretty fair and valid if someone you were seemingly close to suddenly stopped remembering who you were.
