Good afternoon, Ximilia Station.

By now I've had some time to get accustomed to the situation here and what we're expected to be doing, but there's still a lot left unanswered. However, I don't want to wear someone out with too many questions, so I've decided to try something different. Anyone who responds to this post, I'll ask one question I have about life here, our missions, or our purpose.

[ This might be a bad idea because he's not the most knowledgeable about things, but people answered his questions when he was new (and even when he was not-so-new) so he can certainly "pay it forward" like Andy suggested. ]

Are there actual plants aboard this station, or merely the illusions in the sunlight room?

I think some people gather seeds and things from some of the worlds we visit. I know it was definitely the case when we visited a world that was about to be destroyed by an asteroid. You may need to ask around to see if any of them have gotten things to grow.

It'd be remarkable if they did. Though I can't imagine it's easy, since this isn't their climate.

I'm sure the smart types have that all figured out, though I can't say how.

I'm no researcher myself, so that makes two of us.

The more polite types will usually use simple words if you ask, though.

I have no desire to ask, but some would be polite about it, yes.

[ He gets the feeling that even if it were explained simply he wouldn't get it. ]

Thankfully most missions we can be out in nature for when the sunlight room isn't enough.

How many missions have you taken part in?

[drawsblood]

[ The answer takes a bit longer to come through because he's thinking back across all he's seen. ]

Five. All very different places.

Do you mind if I ask you a little about them?

[drawsblood]

Go ahead.

[ He tends to be blunt most of the time but especially so in text form. ]

Which one of the five was the hardest to deal with?

[drawsblood]

The last one. It wasn't an official mission but we ended up trapped in the past and the orb shattered into pieces. We had to collect them but whenever we did it showed our memories to anyone else in the area. Things I haven't wanted anyone to know came to light.

Other than that, a world was destroyed by an asteroid before we had gotten all the people transported away.

[it makes them wonder, if they had gotten here earlier, could they have done that? could it have unlocked things, at the cost of showing them to others? it helps that this is text, and the thoughts they're having can be deleted before the feed sends them out.]

It was down to the last moment before we transported back to the station. There was nothing else we could do.

Sometimes, that's the case.

[it sounds so cold, in text like that. but it's a fact of life that had been thrown directly in their fact multiple times by now. Ava, Yuri, Effie, Saude...the most they could do was keep heading towards the mission's end.

Did any of them get away, in the end?

Yes. Of those who wished to leave, we evacuated a great deal with the mages' use of portals.

[ To him, everyone who has magic is a mage, regardless of what they call themselves. ]

Glad to hear it.

[saving someone is better than saving no one at all.]

Yes. The crew tries to do good where we can. Of course the main goal is retrieving the orb, but on that mission some focused just on evacuation plans.

That's the benefit of such a large team, multitasking.
