[It's Curious Robot o' Clock.
And as he has tended to do lately, he has a lot of questions with regards to humanity (or just - general sentience as an organic being with free will).]
I will need a name. Please advise.
It is part of the orb's request, that my 'personal goal' requires I allow someone else to name me.
What is the importance of a name, to a human? I've used a name someone from my universe called me, to help conceal my identity; it did not feel like it belonged to me, but it served its purpose temporarily. Instead, I have a serial number associated with me. Something equivalent to an I.P. address to monitor me as an individual within Skynet...
What does it mean to you? Your 'name'?
Do you care for it?

[ is it? ]
After all β well, I guess, it might not be completely obvious that Rita Farr isn't my β [ throat clear ] β real name. Sometimes you just need something that pops. Something to stand out in a crowd. A name is something you have as a way to ... solidify your legacy, I suppose.
[ cue a brief somber moment, as she thinks about her own legacy, what it's come to mean for her outside of being a well-known actress .........
before she claps her hands with sudden excitement. ]
Ivan King! Short and easy. Powerful. Memorable.
video;
How do you determine the 'strength' of a name?
video;
[ she's almost not used to people accepting her offered names so gratefully. ]
Well, I think it's about how much confidence you can embody when you introduce yourself. For instance, take myself β [ she straightens up, chin high, her voice like a velvety purr, with each word bouncing in the air. ] I am Rita Farr.
[ she grins, brows raised as if that alone answers the question. ]
See? When I speak my name, it shows that I am ready to take on any challenge that steps in my way, that I can overcome any obstacle, and that I will make sure that I'm remembered. Now you try it, with your perfectly chosen new name.
video;
But also, he seems to genuinely be trying to understand what she's talking about. It's an extremely human thing, something he's not sure he can truly pick up β a name shows something so specific? It doesn't make sense. Even so, he's always one to make an earnest attempt.
Standing as stone-still as ever, he says plainly:]
I am Ivan King, the Cyberdyne Systems Model 101 Series 800 Terminator.
video;
Oh ... kay. Well! [ she gives a light laugh, giving a way of her hand. ] We can definitely work on that, but you're off to a good start. Maybe we can tone down on the title a bit.
Have you ever taken acting lessons, Ivan? Because I can give you a few to help you practice a more ... casual flow of speech.
video;
(And yet, his current style is apparently not.)]
... I am able to replicate speech patterns if I have spokent to someone long enough.
[A pause, and then, in Rita's voice (and with no change of expression):]
I am Rita Farr, and I can handle any challenge β in style!
[That's what you mean by acting lessons, right?]
