[The video clicks on to three men standing outside of a gambling establishment in Zefindam which they were…politely encouraged to move on from. Vash, with Chishiya and Mal at his side, addresses the network first.]
Hello! We had a chance to speak with a family member of the Zefindam regent while we were playing here [''''playing''''] and we may have learned a couple interesting things?
[Chishiya looks smugly amused at Vash's use of the word "playing" here but waits for him to finish his intro before saying anything.]
His name was Aeson Khaiid, and he claimed to be a cousin of the regent. Seemed really proud of his family heritage. The original regent of Zefindam was one of the leaders of the Uprising and it seems like there's story in the family that the High Queen didn't have a large army. Instead the battle was against something known as the Queen's Protector. But the details about what that means have been conveniently lost.
[ Mal’s been standing a bit behind the other two, arms crossed over his chest and brows furrowed before he finally chimes in with his bit. ]
Aeson also showed us something interesting. Large tooth he kept around his neck that was about this– [ he holds out his hands to approximate the size of it between the index finger of each hand. it’s bigger than any beast he’s seen thus far. ] It’s a family heirloom from the Uprising. He didn't have much information about it, even told us the private records he looked into said the “memory of the beasts is best forgotten” or something like that.
[As Mal finishes speaking, Chishiya chimes in again.]
My guess is the beast in question is the mysterious Queen's Protector. The idea that the memory of it being best forgotten lines up a little too neatly with the records of the battle being lost or destroyed.
[At the tail end of the post, Vash, who's been quiet since the introduction, speaks up again with a final thought.]
It could be worth looking into if any of the other countries' regent families have other pieces of the beasts. If one of them was the Queen's Protector, and she's assumed to have escaped to Dracness, it may have followed her. Finding clues to what the beasts were and what happened to them might be a key to getting there.
