That is a complicated series of questions.

I suppose whether or not you 'can' choose depends upon your own interiority and will than anything else.

It is not a matter of being human. Sentience bears with it some degree of self-determination across many species and universes.

The world from which I hail would not have been able to facilitate the necessary growth and changes for me to have ever considered the choice to be a valid one. It is only through my time here that such a thing has become possible for me.
