audio / un: strange - day 6, evening.
We have a way to evacuate the Hivawei.
[ The most important news first. The thing that can't wait. Then, on to detail. ]
Remi d'Arbes has answered our call. With his help, we'll create a path between worlds in search of a suitable planet for the Hivawei to settle. Our course will be set for Gyeonje - unless anyone has a suggestion for a place better suited - with the hope that in making our way to that world we'll find one closer, freeing up those of us based here to open more doorways for the Hivawei to travel through.
[ There's a truth between the lines there, but he doesn't drag it out. It doesn't change what they have to do. ]
We need to be as certain as we can be that the world we lead them to is somewhere they're going to have a real chance to thrive. If anyone thinks they'd be suited to making that kind of assessment and would be willing to abandon the search for the orb to assist with this, let us know as soon as possible.
If there's anyone not already involved who wields magic, or similarly esoteric [ shout out to Itachi for the verbiage ] power, and could spare some time - we'd be glad of you.
[ That's it, their plan and the help they're seeking with it laid out. There's a quiet from Stephen, thoughts ticking over for anything else he needs to add... which there is. One last thing, before they get so ahead of themselves that they forget what this is really going to be. ]
This will not be a small feat. If and when Chief Yerek decides it's time to tell the people, they'll be managing the logistics of a mass evacuation while preparing to leave behind everything they've ever known.
We've all experienced their kindness and the strength of their community. Let's honor that and ease the way for them as much as we possibly can.
[ And with that, he's off to get to work. ]
( ooc: Team Portal would've received this info before he dropped this network post (whether via text or in person for those in Hivawa at the time), along with anyone else in Hiwava who might've been hanging with the magic crowd or spotted he and Remi walking back and followed, so feel free to handwave having been around for the first in-person lowdown!

if you’re looking for a way to get a lot of people gathered together fast, i might be able to help. I’m not as fast as your nifty little space holes, but if it’ll free you up for the mega space hole there’s plenty of room on the big flying bus.
[ It’s him. He is the big flying bus. ]

Consider yourself chartered.
[ Even in full work mode, the people around him better get ready to see an inordinate number of impromptu little smiles as these pledges of help roll in. Here we go, then. Let's get this done. ]

If you need it, I can easily reconfigure the ship Yzak and I have been working on to ferry the Hivawei between settlements!

That would be a huge help. Thank you.

I can prepare the proper alterations needed - but things will move faster if those who specialize in planetside travel jump in to lend a hand.

( 'we were fish once'. it's a whole thing. but there is also no way of knowing if he's been doing in in subtler ways all along, adapting them for variable gravity, oxygen levels and the like as needed. )
@mccoy, do you happen to know if James took tricorder scans in Gyeongje?
I was not yet present, so I cannot speak to its suitability, but regardless of how welcoming the people may or may not be, I would prefer we avoid dooming the Hivawei to a crueler end than the asteroid.
( not tryin' to be a downer, just. you know. )

Thank you, Itachi. If we have access to those records, that would be ideal.
I'm hoping somebody with the skill to run whatever tests we have the equipment for on environments we encounter on the way will accompany the scouting party. If not, whoever does go will need to go armed with as much information as possible.

[This is honestly the news he has been waiting and waiting and waiting for — that one small shred of hope realized.
… And so with this in mind, he starts totally nerding out.]
I’ve got data for Gyeongje still. A crazy amount of it, after we had to figure out the cure for the super gnarly virus that turned a bunch of people into monsters; I studied the unholy shit out of that world’s ecosystem and atmosphere and common infectious diseases. If these people’re on board and you need a guy to verify a planet’s compatibility, I’m yours for the rest of the trip.
audio | un: iris
—Uh. Are we set on this planet still? I mean it's nice we've got one in mind but maybe we can find one that doesn't have any of... that.

That said, and if you are willing to see the benefit of having a 'skeptic' involved in the scouting, I would like to offer that experience and my skills to the effort. I don't have magic or any talent like that, and I recognize we're on a tight deadline.

[ A location drop here to a glade on the outskirts of Hivawa. A difference of opinion is no obstacle when both are still ready to give the effort their all, so there's no comment made on the rest. ]
We'll have you all set off as soon as we've made preparations and assembled a party. The sooner you can get here, the better.

[Excuse him, he sounds very skeptical. He's never seen an evacuation of an entire planet on such sort notice work. In his experience, it just tends to end in panic and trouble...and the inevitable anyway.]

Perhaps not.
However, the potential for failure is hardly so insurmountable a barrier that people will not make the attempt regardless.
Do you have constructive input to offer?

Finn.
If you are amenable, I feel as though your presence could be reassuring to the younger Hivawei. Perhaps if you speak with the village chieftains, you could obtain a roster of the youth and see what it is they may wish to bring along, as far as luxuries go? The transition will be hardest on them, so small creature comforts will help them remain calm and settled.

@ ben @ mccoy I'm sure some consistency would go a long way if either of you can spare the time to visit him now.
One of us can accompany to provide more detailed information if you think it's best the Chief doesn't have to come to us, otherwise we're gathered in a glade just outside of the village if he wants to attend to get a more detailed sense of proceedings. His input would be useful in settling on the spot we open the first door.

[ Truthfully, it's a relief to hear this confirmation. ]
I'm unfamiliar with this planet Gyeongje but while those with that knowledge are busy at work handling the logistics of the move itself, I'm sure there is plenty the rest of us can do.
🔒 voice; un: finn
I have a power that allows me to sense the life around me. It's more complicated, but that's the basics. I've been to Gyeonje and am familiar with it, just in case things have changed since we've last been there, but I can help find more options for relocation, too.
Where do you need me?
🔒
If you're comfortable going offworld to use that ability alongside the scientists in the scouting party, I'm sure that'd go a long way to making us all feel more confident in the place we ultimately choose for the Hivawei.
We're gathering here, as quickly as you can.
[ For 'here' he send through his location, a glad on the outskirts of Hivawa. But he also remembers seeing this name before, tied to a question about whether or not anybody had spoken to the planet yet that moved suspiciously quickly into nowhere. It resurfaces another thought he'd had at the time. ]
Do you think there's any chance that the life here could be communed with, to help with the evacuation effort?

I have nearly a decade of working experience in assessing the habitability of a planet for colonization, and in evacuating refugees and safely resettling them on a new world.
I said this earlier, but for the benefit of everyone, I have a data sheet prepared- ( and a link available, ready for download ) -of the requirements the Hivawei need to survive, and what we're lookin' for.
Viveca mentioned this system has other inhabited planets as well. We ought to start there.
audio; un: felix
I'll upload the data to my suit if ya'll decide I'd be useful. If the magic users are capable of it, it might be best if we split into a few groups for scouting planets more quickly. Otherwise, I'd suggest choosing a select few for one group and keeping it small. But you probably already know that so... uh, yeah. [Awkward hang up here. Just gonna...wait for that reply now.]

Whether or not her power is useful for the portals is one thing, but there are plenty of people out there making strides in other aspects of their efforts to organise. Lots of forested area. The single thing to keep in mind is that everything there is larger; they'll need to account for any potential threat in terms of predators. But there's evidence to support adaptation to any of the natural illness that might be present on Gyeongje; basically, they're not gonna keel over from a common cold or other more extreme disease or virus.
If anyone wants copies of my stuff, I can transmit it through the earpiece, and by all means make sure it's verified by other sources within the team, too, if we've got it. But I'm pleased to say I'm hella confident in these findings. Our biggest hurdle would be getting some counsel with Gyeongje's head honchos and informing our buddies on this planet of the potential threats that they'd have to adapt to. If they're game to try, I'm game to do whatever else people need from me.

I can take point in going through portals into unknown worlds. There's nothing on the other side of any location that will kill me in a way that matters. [ she's lost track of who at this point is aware of her healing and who isn't. she doesn't want to injure herself for the mushrooms, but there are orbers she'd rather not see hurt in this whole thing. ]
Apparently I come highly recommended. Just ask Itachi. [ that's what he gets. ]
If there are sentient lives on whatever fucking planet ends up being the plan here, I assume we all know they need to be warned about the influx of refugees. This kind of sudden mass movement is chaotic at the best of times, even without fucking magic.

Wait, wait, what about this planet Gyeonje? Is it already inhabited? What about the ecosystem there?
