[ of course, rita sets up a visual because the starlet always wants to be seen (except when she doesn't). at the present time, she seems rather enthusiastic like she's fighting a proud grin, one that suggests she's ready to give herself a pat on the back at any moment. ]

Good evening, everyone! For those who don't know me, I am Rita Farr, your Team Morale Coordinator.

[ wait, who assigned her that position? ]

As you all well know, we have been joining mission after mission with the intention of collecting orbs to protect the world and save towns from devastation. In a way, you might say we're ... space-travelling superheroes!

And as any superhero would tell you, it's very important to have codenames for our mission. Obviously, we often obtain our very own undercover civilian names. But in the line of duty, when we're in the heat of the fight, we should just as well have assigned titles to continue preserving our identities.

As the Ximilia's Team Morale Coordinator — [ again, who voted her into that position? ] I took it upon myself to select carefully crafted codenames for each and every one of you.

[ she then holds up a sheet of paper, featuring a list of all of the orbers, each with another name printed beside them. ]

You will find this list posted in the Mess Hall. Please take a moment at your best convenience to study the list and memorize each of the names listed for future use. Though I worked very hard to select them — [ she clears her throat, brushing her hair back. ] I suppose that if you have any issue with the name chosen for you, we can discuss making possible changes. Though I don't see why anyone would want to.

[As someone who comes from a culture where names and titles are earned (whether though merit or otherwise), and someone who spent the last years of his life branded with a title that he didn't choose for himself that he both welcomed and loathed in turn, his eyes darken at the list and he takes a moment to respond as he gathers himself.

When he does his tone is polite enough, but those who know him well might recognize the edge of something irritated lurking beneath it.]

Lady Farr, a truly magnificent boost of morale, this! You really live up to your title. Something to be proud of, certainly.

[ he smiles throughout it all, almost childishly animated, fan waving in his hand; not a single word sounds insincere, or mocking. he may not be an actor by trade, but for ten years that was his career, and every single day the stakes were between life and death; one wrong expression, one wrong word, and his cover would have been blown. and so there is nothing here to betray him: if anything, it's him who is shown as silly in this — hasn't he looked at what others have said? or maybe he's just a bit thoughtless. that's probably it. the silly man who likes to paint and spends missions with birds rather than chasing the orbs; this is all that can be expected of him, really.

(it isn't easy, to make nie huaisang angry. but the title of the headshaker is wrapped around his shoulders, even now, and he bristles at the idea of another name so easily given, so devoid in meaning. he hears the annoyance in wei wuxian's tone, and thinks of the yiling patriarch, another title bestowed by the cultivation world that understands little and knows less.

in the end, huaisang is a nie to the core, and the nie temper is a biting thing. his brother's was always instant and sharp; his own is quieter, yet far more vicious.) ]
