[ of course, rita sets up a visual because the starlet always wants to be seen (except when she doesn't). at the present time, she seems rather enthusiastic like she's fighting a proud grin, one that suggests she's ready to give herself a pat on the back at any moment. ]

Good evening, everyone! For those who don't know me, I am Rita Farr, your Team Morale Coordinator.

[ wait, who assigned her that position? ]

As you all well know, we have been joining mission after mission with the intention of collecting orbs to protect the world and save towns from devastation. In a way, you might say we're ... space-travelling superheroes!

And as any superhero would tell you, it's very important to have codenames for our mission. Obviously, we often obtain our very own undercover civilian names. But in the line of duty, when we're in the heat of the fight, we should just as well have assigned titles to continue preserving our identities.

As the Ximilia's Team Morale Coordinator — [ again, who voted her into that position? ] I took it upon myself to select carefully crafted codenames for each and every one of you.

[ she then holds up a sheet of paper, featuring a list of all of the orbers, each with another name printed beside them. ]

You will find this list posted in the Mess Hall. Please take a moment at your best convenience to study the list and memorize each of the names listed for future use. Though I worked very hard to select them — [ she clears her throat, brushing her hair back. ] I suppose that if you have any issue with the name chosen for you, we can discuss making possible changes. Though I don't see why anyone would want to.

[Extreme intimacy, huh? That's kind of intense. Like... secret names, buried like treasure or something. Waiting for someone just right to come along and crack it open. Or at least that's the visual Ziggy immediately feels herself drawn to.]

I may have noticed you calling me a-xing. Maybe.

[Most definitely, though the playful little smile that pulls at her lips suggests she's being a little playful about it. She'll ask him about it more in a minute, once she gets the more serious stuff out of the way. After a moment, she admits:]

... My birth name's Christine. But I don't really have any kind of emotion attached to it anymore. Maybe when I was a lot younger and things were better...? These days, 'Ziggy' reminds me of good memories, and my real name is — just something I heard when I was in trouble.

[Wei Wuxian's now officially the only person who knows said birth name. It only feels right, honestly. Her mouth twists as she adds:]

I guess I should appreciate it because my parents gave it to me, or something, but...

[A shrug.]

... What do you like me to call you?

Because at this point, you're totally laoshi in my head.

[He mouths the name to himself and frowns. It's a pretty name, but it's the name of a stranger. He's sure if it was what she preferred he'd have adjusted, but since it's not, he merely acknowledges it and then sets it aside.]

You can appreciate it without using it. Anyway, I've become very fond of this Ziggy character. [He laughs softly and then considers her question.]

I think I've become pretty fond of Laoshi too. Although at this point, if you ever wanted to call me Shifu that would be alright as well. I didn't expect our studies to expand the way they did. Shifu is a more encompassing martial arts teacher, less general. [Silently, he thinks of shixiong but it would be inappropriate to claim her as such even if he does think of her as his shimei. They don't share a martial master for him to refer to her as his martial sister. Although it does make him think of something else...]

And if you ever really want to butter me up, you can call me Wei-gege. [The word sounds something like "guh-guh" and there's a smile in his voice as he explains.]

Fond, huh? Even after I've gleefully gotten out of calligraphy practice?

[She looks pleased anyway by it. It's nice to have people like you, she's come to learn over the last year and a half. Maybe it really does help to try and be a less unpleasant person, doesn't it?]

Careful, I might start combining names. Laoshifu-gege?

[Terrible, that sounds just awful, it's 86'd from the menu.

But her curiosity swiftly replaces any teasing.]

[An unspoken question: what's that translate to?]

[He groans in pain at her combination of names and then chokes on a laugh at Wei-gege. Oh. Oh no, that was a mistake. He should not have taught her that. His heart can't take it.]

It's older brother, but it isn't....um...hmm. English is very literal abut these things, but in my language...many people use brother and sister even when they aren't related.

And gege is very cute. Too cute. [Muffled, because he's hiding his face in his hands] It's so cute. [Why didn't he teach her Wei-ge? Did he really need to do this to himself?]

[If there's a touch of bittersweetness to her tone, it's because she can't help but think about her sister. Wei Wuxian would have liked her a lot. Or at the very least, liked her humble little do-goody flaws while she slammed a shovel into some asshole's face.]
