Then I agree with Miss Farr! And the one writing above. A dance contest for the finalists... after this mission, whatever it will be.

I've met others hailing from the same nation who were more than a hundred years in my future. It sounds shocking, but it's quite common on the ship.

I suppose that gives us some interesting dances to look forward to, in the meantime? We were gone quite a while last time, I've no idea how long we'll be off the ship next... it's only my second mission.

I don't know about how long. I haven't asked enough to know if there's a pattern or not. Are we told when the mission's announced? Were you for your first?

It makes it sound as if it's more remarkable that any of us might know others from our own worlds. If the time we can each come from is so different.

We were given a few days' notice, right when the mission was announced. [He'd have liked more, if only on account of how much studying he wound up doing...]

As for knowing others from our own worlds, I feel like I'm something of an anomaly-- two of my students arrived with me. [And Gina, though he hasn't spotted her around just yet.] If you've run into Mr. Naruhodo or Mr. Asogi, they're trustworthy lads-- you can certainly count on them on a mission.

Ah, I'm sorry for going on without introducing myself! Professor Yujin Mikotoba, at your service. I'm one of the ship's medical staff. Welcome to the Ximilia.

I'm Ciri. Thank you, and it's nice to meet you. Are there a number of you here trained in healing?

That's a good number of people. Are you all from... you mentioned the different times. It's not a hundred years, but are you all from the same time? Same moment? Or same night I guess.

A few, yes. Primarily Dr. McCoy, Miss Sabriel, Nurse Cabrera, and myself, though I do believe there may be others who are capable of healing magic.

[Maybe he'll wander into the weeds of learning magic himself, eventually... it seems like an awfully convenient skill to have in his pocket.]

And, as far as I'm aware, we're all from the same day or so. Naruhodo and I were even together: along with my daughter, we'd boarded a ship back to our home... only to wake up here, without her.

[And though he's been reassured of her safety, he's still concerned for Susato. He's a father, he can't help it.]

( healing magic would be great. if she could control hers enough. if she were trained, or trainable, or whatever it is she'd prefer to be beyond Destructive. )

Isn't that good, though? That she maybe doesn't have any regrets big enough to dream about changing. Must make you a better father than many.

It's very fortunate they aren't on camera: he's certain the pang of guilt he feels is written all over his face. He's a decent father, but better than many-- he can't possibly lay claim to that. Not when he still believes he's failed Susato from the day she was born.]

I do what I can for her. [It's the least she deserves after so many of his missteps. But he's eager to change the subject away from where he's able to think about his own hang-ups.] Do you know? I never thought of it that way. I simply assumed that Miss Viveca hadn't managed to pick her up in time. Perhaps it's for the better that she doesn't any regrets for the orbs.

Feels like that has to be for the better. Fewer big regrets, that's nice, isn't it? Doesn't mean you have none, but means you can live with them. Or don't feel you need to do anything you're asked in order to see them changed.
