[ rita appears on the screen, in a bit of a jolly mood, though visibly out of breath as it appears she just finished her chore of leaving audition flyers door to door. but she laughs easily, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face before clearing her throat. ]Hello, everyone! I'm sure you all know me by now — Rita Farr — and I do want to thank you for your shared participation in my previous grand event, our beloved Town Hall Meeting. Though I want to gather you all
again, this time, it's for something a little more fun. Instead of stressful meetings, I will be directing a production of a very popular and beloved Earth play,
A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by the legendary playwright, Mr. William Shakespeare himself.
The play is an incredible,
fantastical story filled with comedy, romance, trickery, and a little adventure, which I'm more than sure you'll all enjoy. On the back of your flyer, I've included a
summary of the play and well as
descriptions of its characters. As much of the play takes place in a magical forest, I thought it only appropriate that we perform it in our own delightful spot of nature, the Sunlight Room.
But every play needs
actors and so, I will be holding auditions for you to give your best showcase of your talents! I have samples of monologues from the play that you can use for your readings or you can bring your own material. Whatever you think will do the best job at showing me what you've got.
[ she takes a breath, giving a chuckling smile. ]Now, I
know many of you may be ... inexperienced in the way of acting.
Some have even mocked the craft. But if you would like pointers or suggestions for the audition process, or even an expert opinion on what roles I believe you could be well suited for, if you're unfamiliar with the play, then I will be more than happy to share my advice as a long-time professional in this business. And don't assume that gender or species or what-have-you matters — all roles are open to everyone.
As for the performance itself, I know it's quite tricky to know our schedule in this place with how uncertain our missions come and go, but I'll be providing scripts as soon as the roles are cast so you can immediately get on memorizing your lines and we will
squeeze as many rehearsals as we possibly can. With good fortune, I think we can get it all together in about three months time for a wonderful one-night-only grand performance!
