Tell me Sam or Eleven are with one of you.

Their comms aren't working. I can't get through to either of them. But Sam wouldn't head off without his shield.

[Newt's felt like shit lately, for reasons we shan't go into.

So instead of addressing his own feelings, he's going to ignore them, bottle them up, and torment both new and old crew alike!]

Eyes over here! Hyup! Welcome, noobies, to the SS Ximilia! Grandest little station in the whole wide endless universe. I'm Newt Geiszler, PhD times six, resident xenobiologist, inventor, and super awesome guitarist of the best band around, Murderface. Pleasure to meet you! Don't touch any of my stuff in the lab, or it'll probably end in me shoving you under the emergency shower.

... That was a joke; I'm not allowed to have things that would put any of you into a chemical shower.

Anyway, just as a head's up, for both the new and old crewmembers? Don't change your regret unless you're seriously ready to give up something in exchange. And I mean it, guys — it can be real nasty. If you wanna talk about it, I've finally figured out my loss from changing my regret, so.

... Less serious topic: time for your resident welcome wagon. A.K.A. my handy write-up of our crew for the new bloods. Read through very, very carefully. this is all critical information!

[The date, 3rd of October, has him feeling rather pensive again. Just as he thought he would figure dealing with Father, getting Al his body back, he is yanked back here again. It's.....frustrating, to put it lightly. As much as he wants to scream at Viv to send him back. He knows he must have been pulled back here to help. That they need him. That Ed maybe hasn't done enough. Gathered enough orbs to earn that reward yet of getting Al back. Yet.

He sits in the sunlight room, pocket watch open at his lap if anyone approaches but he does turn on the feed.]

You think this will work? Gathering the orbs? To fix things? Is it worth it? I just feel like I've been trying to fix things for so long, not just here, but back home too. I feel like I was so close, and I got pulled back here again. And I can't help wondering. With some of the missions. The goals they give us. If at some point I might get something, some line I won't want to cross. For as much as I do want to fix things.

[He sighs, shaking his head as he isn't sure what more to say in his musings. In his worries. He figures even that much might be too much. That he might end up regretting even that. So he ends it there.]

[ Enjoy the visual of a stack of waffles, piled so high and with such a blatant disregard to the laws of physics that it looks like it's about to fall over.

And that is before Eleven, not quite but almost hidden behind it, shakes a can of spray whipped cream, aims it and begins piling that onto the waffles too. Hey, most of the whipped cream even ends up on the waffle stack... which is swaying, dangerously, at this point. Some of the whipped cream also ends up all over the table. And in her hair. ]

I want to learn how to look nicer. And I want to play board games with people. And I want people to stop disappearing. I want someone to help me train my powers in case we have to kill people again.

[ She presses her lips together, then picks up what looks like... oh yeah, that's just a clear plastic container filled to the brim with sprinkles. If you think this is about to be a full on disaster when it becomes clear Eleven isn't using any tipe of spoon or even her hands to scoop out sprinkles and deposit them on the waffle monstrosity, you'd be correct. Because it looks like...

Yeah, she just upended half the jar's worth of sprinkles over the waffle tower.

Most of that did NOT end up on the waffles.

Eleven puts her hands on her hips, regards her.... 'meal'. It is technically a meal, in that technically everything on that plate is edible.

[ rita appears on the screen, in a bit of a jolly mood, though visibly out of breath as it appears she just finished her chore of leaving audition flyers door to door. but she laughs easily, brushing a loose strand of hair from her face before clearing her throat. ]

Hello, everyone! I'm sure you all know me by now — Rita Farr — and I do want to thank you for your shared participation in my previous grand event, our beloved Town Hall Meeting. Though I want to gather you all again, this time, it's for something a little more fun. Instead of stressful meetings, I will be directing a production of a very popular and beloved Earth play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, written by the legendary playwright, Mr. William Shakespeare himself.

The play is an incredible, fantastical story filled with comedy, romance, trickery, and a little adventure, which I'm more than sure you'll all enjoy. On the back of your flyer, I've included a summary of the play and well as descriptions of its characters. As much of the play takes place in a magical forest, I thought it only appropriate that we perform it in our own delightful spot of nature, the Sunlight Room.

But every play needs actors and so, I will be holding auditions for you to give your best showcase of your talents! I have samples of monologues from the play that you can use for your readings or you can bring your own material. Whatever you think will do the best job at showing me what you've got.

[ she takes a breath, giving a chuckling smile. ]

Now, I know many of you may be ... inexperienced in the way of acting. Some have even mocked the craft. But if you would like pointers or suggestions for the audition process, or even an expert opinion on what roles I believe you could be well suited for, if you're unfamiliar with the play, then I will be more than happy to share my advice as a long-time professional in this business. And don't assume that gender or species or what-have-you matters — all roles are open to everyone.

As for the performance itself, I know it's quite tricky to know our schedule in this place with how uncertain our missions come and go, but I'll be providing scripts as soon as the roles are cast so you can immediately get on memorizing your lines and we will squeeze as many rehearsals as we possibly can. With good fortune, I think we can get it all together in about three months time for a wonderful one-night-only grand performance!

Back home, I was kind of a monster. It felt like everyone looked down on me or abandoned me, so I just didn't bother trying to be anything else. I didn't trust anyone, and I couldn't stand being in a group of more than one person — that one person being me, myself, and I... Working with others, it isn't really my thing.

So you can imagine how this whole experience has been.

We found a body behind a hidden door in the mayor's study. Any medical expertise that could help us, would be greatly appreciated.

[At first, all that can be seen is an up-close view of a bowtie. It’s being adjusted by slender little fingers, and there’s a mischievous laugh, followed quickly by the Doctor distinctly admonishing, Not in front of company!]

What company? It’s just Alina.

[But she clearly knows exactly what company he’s talking about, and smirks as she pulls back and away. They have important things to discuss, after all.]

Right. So the Doctor and I, we recently met with Entr’i. And we know there’s been plenty of discussion on the upcoming war, but there’s more we felt needed to be addressed. Starting with that amulet.

[ There’s a pause and the video feed seems to shift, though the general colour of the imagery remains a sort of reddish hue reflecting Sedorum’s ever-crimson sky. ]

Hello! Yes! The amulet. [ Bowtie now in perfect order, the Doctor clears his throat and properly flaps Clara away. ] Now there’s cause to believe this amulet is a whole other sort of thing and not the thing we want, but the power Entr’i believes it has … well, it all fits together perfectly.

[ He means, of course, the reason they’re here in the first place: the orbs, the mission. ]

Of course Entr’i herself — she’s rather the determined type. Very much ‘get-things-done’ and never-you-mind all the obstacles that might stand in her way. She really believes she can use the power of this counterpart amulet to — ah, what did she say? ‘Bring the two realms together.’ Yes, I think she means to quite physically bring down the barriers that divide the realms and create a whole new sort of city for all souls, bringing them together.

Quite the ambition, eh?
[ He looks thoughtful. ] Now! Now — what does this mean for the upcoming war bit? Right — well, I don’t plan on doing any warring, not me, not my area of expertise, but. We’ll need to — Clara? Clara, tell everyone what we’ll need to do.

[There’s a moment’s pause, just long enough for Clara to appreciate the fact he’s deferring to her for the important part.]

What we’ll need -

[Another pause, as her mind works quickly to not only remember the conversation they’re referencing, but to create something resembling a plan.]

What we’ll need is people who are able to stay behind with us. In a few days, we’re gonna be the only hope the people here have. It’s up to us to band together to help guide them to safety. And to keep them as secure as possible. Anyone in Taeum or Sedorum that’s able and willing to help, your orders come from -

Oh! [ The Doctor suddenly exclaims, recalling something else in between listening and thinking, and remembering very important conversations. ] Yes, Clara’s right of course. We’ll need to make sure that anyone in Taeum and Sedorum has means of protection in case things go sour, whether that’s a safe place to hide or someone to protect them. I’ll admit there really is only so much one can do with a sonic screwdriver when it comes to souls, but — ah, never mind that.

There was one other thing. Something about notes. What did Entr’i call them? Magic notes?

[ Alina, perched on the edge of the camera's view, snapping back to sudden attention. Her eyes jump from where they've centered onto the wall, looking indignant at Clara's elbow jabbing her in the ribs, before she seems to remember herself.

Right. Sheepishly, she clears her throat. ]

Sorry. Anyway, Entr'i thought she would have to use the amulet to bring Sedorum's army to Giva, but the magic notes the Doctor mentioned will help her transport them. Which means the amulet is free to merge Sedorum and Taeum together.

[ For a moment, she trails off, mouth opening and closing before she finds the words. ]

We can’t stop the war from breaking out in Giva, but Entr’i thinks we can use it to distract and trick Him and the Highest One. She wants to stall long enough for a chosen group of us to go in, get the other amulet from the Highest One, and get out. With all of our limbs intact, hopefully. Another group will need to go in and free the prisoners Taeum has locked up while we have the chance.

If you can fight, you should volunteer for one of the infiltration groups or head to Giva as soon as you can before things can get worse. Remember we’re fighting to stall them. If you’re just looking to destroy something, go beat up a straw puppet.

Entr’i and the rest of us — we’re not looking for more bloodshed. If you can’t trust her on that, I hope you can at least trust me.

That goes for Clara and the Doctor’s group, too. We just want everyone to be kept as safe as they can be.
[ A beat ticks by as she glances at Clara. ] If she starts bossing you around, you should listen to her. Clara knows best. There’s no one I would trust more to protect these people with everything they have than her and the Doctor.

[ At this, the Doctor nods. Far be it from him to argue about that last bit, besides which, Alina is perfectly right.

He claps his hands together. ]

Right. That should do it, then —

[Clara holds up a hand, stopping both the Doctor and Alina from adding on anything more.]

You’re right. I do know best. And since I know best, let me remind all of you that war is coming. Whether we want it to or not. All we can do now is try to prepare and make the best out of the situation. Arguing isn’t gonna change that. So please, do whatever you can now to make yourself ready. We’ll be waiting till we’re called for action. I advise you to do the same.

[There’s a moment where she gives her best stern teacher look, followed by a curt nod of her head. The Doctor looks in her direction and then meets Alina’s glance, proud and absolutely not about to argue with what Clara’s said, before his expression changes and he opens his mouth to start a new story. You see, there was this noodle-vendor in the shopping district, and —

And then the video feed cuts off without anything further to be added.]

[ooc: Red is Clara, Blue is the 11th Doctor, Purple is Alina. These three are coming together to lead the charge for part 2!]

I still don't like Taeum. I mean, how they act.

I hate the weirdos who do things that make it obvious they're in the wrong place. And I hate that they keep locking everyone up.

But I was — wrong about it, too. There are really good people here, people who are upset about their families not being with them. There's kids, too, and — there are people I've been helping pass messages around for. Between Taeum and Sedorum, I mean. [She hesitates, looking uncertain if she should say anything that would be too vulnerable. She decides to try, despite her every urge not to.] ... You'd think I saved their lives or something, they seem so grateful... but I get it, because I would pay anything to hear from my sister again. They keep inviting me in for food and games, and they've been watching out for me, and...

I don't know why I'm even talking about any of this. I just wanted to say it, I guess.

That I was wrong about them. A lot of them just want to be happy with their friends and family, and I was wrong.

[She sighs, tucking a lock of hair back.]

I wish there was a way to avoid anyone else getting hurt, but I know how these things go. No matter what we choose, people are going to get hurt. Um. But try to protect both sides, whatever happens. It's not their fault that everything's screwed up. I'll protect people from Sedorum if you guys in Sedorum help protect people from Taeum, too.

[Frowning, she adds:]

... My goal involves someone getting hurt. I can't say what it is exactly, or it won't count.

I don't know what to do. I have to fix my regret, but I don't want to hurt anyone.

This is Sabriel. Xichen, Alina, Rhys and I did some investigating, and I'd like to share what we found, along with my own thoughts.

We know that Entr'i has an orb, and wishes to merge Taeum and Sedorum... and frankly, I think that really is the best course of action. My suggestion is that we offer our assistance in that goal, in exchange for the orb. It's a strategy we've employed successfully in the past, and to be honest- I want to help Entr'i anyway. Unlike everyone else in charge, she seems to care about people, regardless of whether they're in Taeum or Sedorum.

[Entr'i has the cause that Sabriel sees as the most just, and is the person most concerned with justice that she's met in this world. The Highest One seems most concerned with their own sanctimony, and as for 'Him', well...]

There is a problem though. Xichen, Alina, Rhys and myself worked together- Xichen and I spoke to Entr'i, and Alina and Rhys tailed V'rizz. We wanted to learn more of Him and the Highest One.

What we found is that the oldest memory of either of them dates back to little over a hundred years ago- there are no souls who have been in either realm longer than that, and any older souls have since moved on. There is no memory or record extending past that, and it's possible that neither realm is as ancient as they seem- orbs are involved, after all.

But what's worse- V'rizz and He are planning to betray Entr'i. From what was overheard... Entr'i and the Highest Ones both have orbs, though they called them 'amulets'. The reason Entr'i was forbidden from killing the Highest One was because He didn't want her to have the entire orb and become too powerful. So they're planning on waiting until Entr'i kills the highest one and collects- and then kill her while she's weakened, so He can have both. Obviously, we warned her about this- Entr'i's the only person in this world who I'd trust to hold an Orb- the Highest One is a hypocrite who doesn't care about people suffering, and 'He' is no better.

Let me repeat- we have warned Entr'i about this and offered our help. Let's trust her to act as she deems best with that information.

[And oocly, see what the mods say in response to the followup search request.]

Of course, that also raises the question of how to collect both orbs and get back to the station. If we side with Entr'i, given her plan seems to involve obtaining both orbs, we could request both in exchange for helping her, taking them back with us after her bargain is concluded.

However, we don't know what Entr'i's bargain is- Entr'i does not seem the sort to use innocents as collateral, and she's not displaying any of the symptoms So'Yeon did in Gyeonje, so I don't think she's using herself as a sacrifice either. I suspect her wish is to merge Taeum and Sedorum, I just don't know how how she's planning to pay for it.

[Sabriel actually has her own theory about Entr'i's bargain- one she'll supply if asked, but it's too optimistic to voice. Besides, there's still another person with an orb- one far less benevolent than Entr'i

There's a long moment of silent hesitation, as Sabriel remembers the previous mission, the way everything had fallen apart, the town dissolving to nothing but ruins and death, pervaded by a cold that stuck to her bones, even in the heat of the day. And she thinks of Gyeonje, of people twisted into monsters, slowly losing their minds because of one man's selfishness.]

I have no evidence either way, so what follows is purely speculation, but if this 'Highest One' made a bargain with the orb to create Taeum's present state, it is possible that there was a condition that souls from Sedorum, or perhaps simply that 'sinners' not be allowed in.

[This could explain the absolute refusal to compromise, in any way. Or they're just a bunch of hypocritical snobs. Really, Sabriel could believe either, given everything she's heard.]

It is also possible that the Highest One is somehow using Taeum's inhabitants as payment- as the ruler of that realm, the orb would consider the denizens theirs to bargain with. The problem with that theory is that there's no clear sign of that happening- no crewmember in Taeum has reported people disappearing, unless Taeum's 'quick return to the Giva' is really a cover for something more sinister.

But regardless of what bargain the Highest One made, we need to get that orb, along with Entr'i's, and there are multiple ways we might do so.

Simply stealing it is off the table, as we learned in Braccia that physical possession of the orb is not enough, unless we want to play keep-away while they chase us until they give up, or hope that the Highest one is actually far more reasonable than we've been led to believe and we can reason with them.

[So not really an option, unless the crew is feeling either wildly optimistic or incredibly masochistic.]

We might also try to understand the bargain made, and use some clause in it to end it- this is what we did during the last mission, albeit unintentionally. Except we don't know for sure what bargain was made with the orb, or what the cost was, so this method is also unlikely to work.

The final possibility is we help Entr'i do what she wants, and kill the Highest One. One problem with this, as seen from the mission in Braccia, is that owners of the orbs can be incredibly powerful- we would need to send our strongest, and it might not be enough. And I know some of you object to killing, but this isn't someone like Welford Branson, an innocent who made a bargain he didn't fully understand out of grief- this is someone even worse than Cheruvia, someone who's been maintaining an unjust system even when given the chance to reform it. We just need to keep Entr'i safe in the aftermath, and make sure V'rizz and his master don't lay their hands on the orb. I think this option has the best chance of success, and is the one I support.

[Mostly because Sabriel likes Entr'i, and has little love for the powers of both Sedorum and Taeum. The fact that it also seems the most likely to result in mission success is a happy bonus.]

So, to summarize all that, I think we should help Entr'i kill the Highest One, collect both orbs and merge Taeum and Sedorum, and make sure the forces on either side don't try to stop or sabotage her.

Alright, just like this…? [Oh yeah, that’s working. Okay, weird. Those who know him might recognize Wei Wuxian’s voice but for those who don’t, he doesn’t introduce himself.]

I’ve got some important information to share. Or could be important. [Hell if he knows what’s relevant and what isn’t, but Gwen seems to know more about how these things work so he’s going off of that.]

Me and Gwen were arrested and imprisoned in Taeum. We were being held there as traitors and Entr’i came to break us out. She told us that the dungeons of Taeum were originally created to hold her there when she rebelled against them.

[He should really keep focused on the subject at hand, but who is he kidding? He’s not even going to try to pretend not to have an opinion on this. Bitter anger slips into his voice and he doesn’t try to stop it.]

It’s easy to understand why she did. Taeum is full of nothing but the self-righteous stains of people who revel in their own greed and—

Wei Wuxian.

Anyway. The dungeon was created for her and that’s where she escaped from. The portal she used to escape back then is the same portal she used to get us out.

Entr’i tried to kill the Highest One. It’s why she was imprisoned. [ Gwen's voice, by contrast, is soft. She speaks without inflection. ] They used to be close. Entr’i and Angrial. She said Angrial wasn’t always like this.

[Wei Wuxian lets out a deep sigh] Also, Entr’i has the orb. It’s how she called the portal. Angrial showed up as we were leaving but Entr’i got us away before they could fight. Said something about meeting on Giva. I think that’s it. [There’s a short pause in which Gwen shakes her head no, she has nothing else to add, and then he continues] yeah. That’s everything. The communications have been fixed now, right? That's good, because I have some information that those in Sedorum could use.

I've joined the Taeum military and have been working with their magic-users. They're pretty confident in a quick victory. Our commander Angrial says the Highest One will probably make a move in a few weeks. I don't know where exactly we're going, though they did mention a district called Uch'ors.

As for the soldiers themselves, they say that by fighting and winning the war, they'll earn a place in the cycle of reincarnation faster. I hope someone can use this information for their own investigations.

[There's a bit of a hesitant pause, before;]

I do feel like we can say with a relative amount of certainty that there is some sort of higher power in Taeum, presumably the Highest One that Angrial refers to, and they seem, based on what Finn and I sensed, to have an Orb. I'm not sure what that means for reports of the orb potentially being in Sedorum, but frankly, this whole situation is bullshit and if there are in fact two orbs or two parts of one whole orb that we have to figure out a way to combine, I wouldn't be surprised.

In any case, this is Trafalgar Law, reporting in that Daisy, Finn, Cora and myself have been branded traitors and taken into custody for attempting to breach the area where the orb is contained. I don't have access to my abilities and I assume the same goes for the other three.
[A long pause where Law presumably just silently ruminates on the fact that he has ended up in Heaven Jail and really of course this would happen.]

This is not a request for a rescue, simply something to keep in mind as work to find the orb continues. As well as a test on my part to confirm that our comms are still functional from in here.

[ETA: Despite what Law says there is now an OOC plotting post re: potential jailbreak ideas.]
